They don't want the elderly crossing the street. They want the able-bodied older folks with cars and disposable income to get in and get out with as little fuss and bother as possible.
Notice how the genius plan of the "city within a city" went in the trash bin where it always belonged as soon as the casino was dangled? If that plan was so wonderful, why was it abandoned?
That's the level of "planning" involved here. Chasing The Next Big Idea only to do a 180 and go full tilt toward the next pie-in-the-sky.
The best thing to have at a scarce industrial site on the edge of town would be that asphalt plant that Ballston Spa doesn't want. A tax-paying business with some manual-labor type jobs. Nah. Who needs work, or industry, when you can have gambling?

I think that the REAL question is -- and I know that the nayboobs can't answer this one without lying -- where is the evidence of huge throngs of elderly, disabled or other persons crossing Erie Boulevard at its intersection with Nott Street?
People do cross Erie Boulevard up by the Stewart's & Country Farms and also at State Street, Liberty Street and Union Street.  But I have rarely seen anybody even walking along the sidewalks - let alone crossing the street - down by the intersection with Nott Street.
This all goes to prove that this thread is nothing but a bunch of buffalo sh*t and hot air -- a feeble attempt by nayboobs to create an issue where no issue exists.

There aren't throngs of anybody trying to cross the street there. When people who have to cross get killed, and there is no longer anything there to cross to, of course there aren't elderly people attempting any such thing. That does not absolve the city of a responsibility to protect the lives of anyone needing to get from one area to another, without a car.
Downtown is improving, without anybody but poor people walking around. Yep.

There will be an additional traffic light added in the vicinity of Maxon at Seneca I believe.

Mallozzi's being interested in opening a restaurant at the Rivers project really isn't "news." That was mentioned sometime back.  Just like Mazzone was interested in opening a restaurant at the proposed casino in East Greenbush and Hard Rock Cafe at the proposed casino in Rensselaer.

I have driven through that intersection between 5 P.M. and 6 P.M. Monday through Friday many times over the years.  Personally, I find that the traffic flows better with the circle.  As to the volume of traffic, a circle will not reduce volume of traffic -- it just makes it flow more smoothly.

it's an illusion to the stop/go......there is still stopping and going but in one's mind there's no traffic light ahead.....

Obviously DV is trying to claim he sits at that intersection perhaps from 6 a.m. until almost midnight, watching who walks vs drives?   ROFLMAO.

I'd bet there are some elderly who live in the stockade who go to St Anthony's to church, DV will claim there is none as if he know everyone, their ages, where they live and where they go to church.

But according to DV, there will be throngs of people living in the apartments in downtown and the condos so there should be a lot of people walking, right?   ROFL.

All it takes is ONE, just ONE person, young, elderly, blind, to get killed, but obviously DV doesn't care if it's "just one person" that gets killed.

Well it really isn't an illusion, the traffic does flow.

And it is obvious that the leader of the nayboob's is off his/her psych med and/or drinking heavily by his/her posts.  He/she really should get some help,

Um, did I say "throngs of people?"

And WHY, tell us DV, WHY people should be FORCED to walk a distance to cross just to back track?

And DV, naturally, you are speechless, I asked HOW a slow walking elderly person would cross without the crosswalk signal to cause cars to come to a "red light stop" when there is no traffic light?

AND I asked HOW will a blind person cross without a chirping crosswalk.  Since you have proven you don't care at all about the average person in the city, you have carefully avoided answering that question.  HOW IS A BLIND PERSON SUPPOSED TO CROSS THERE WITHOUT THE CHIRPING CROSSWALK SIGNAL AND A TRAFFIC LIGHT FORCING CARS TO COME TO A 100% COMPLETE STOP?

And by the way, you love that Vegas wannabee singer with his tens of thousands in tax warrants, going to his restaurant, there is a young lady that sings and she is totally blind and she lives in the stockade, so DV, tell us HOW she will be able to cross the street?   HUH?   Oh one life doesn't matter, just as long as you cheer for your beloved McThief to steal from the taxpayers, give to the millionaires in return for the kickbacks and political bribes.

By the way, where is YOUR EVIDENCE that taxes are lower than they were in the 1970's.  Wow, three years ago you stated that and in three years you have to provided one teeny weeny shred of evidence to prove what you said.  Are you ready and willing to admit that you were wrong, that you lied, that you don't understand taxes because you are not and never have been a taxpayer.

DV exaggerates and is delusional....the only thing he knows is to throw his "knowledge" into something he has NOT experienced....know it all...only

with the REGIME in Rotterdam does he know anything ...which is very little...because he carries all so-called information to relate...

and from what everyone knows........he is just the 'unintelligent mouth" for the DEMS

Quoted from Madam X

I heard that the traffic circle at Curry Road didn't improve anything, which surprised me, but when I finally went through there at peak traffic time, sure enough there was traffic backed up.

The Curry Road circle does not work as sold to the town folk. To begin with it is not large enough. Price Choppers truck have to drag their trailers over the center  to get through. The first month it was open I saw one PC truck (I assume out of frustration) drive the cab and trailer straight over the red bricked area not even attempting to make the turn. The traffic continues to back up to I-890 curry road exchange every evening, and back up to Cumberland Farms every morning. Add to that the massive intelligence of our glorious town board when they allowed the placement of a DD at the entrance of the Thruway on Carman Rd. The morning traffic was bad there before its opening but now it is horrendous. The first day DD was opened there was a major accident at the intersection of Wayto Road, and each morning there are fender benders and near misses.

No forward think needs to be done when applying for permits in our town or the City of Schenectady. No thought to safety or traffic flow is ever considered, and just like this "casino" project all trip traffic is going to be funneled from I-890 off exit 4B onto the circle of death then down Erie Blvd. All while going through five traffic lights and all those new crosswalks in the "Gin-mill area". Let’s not forget to mention the old train trestle bridge that is just wide enough for 5 lanes (4 driving and one turn) don’t get caught walking through there during the winter or in heavy traffic, your heart rate will triple. Just wait till more busses start using this path to get the pensioners to the tables. Then you are going to see some traffic, and that is all before you get to the fancy new circle which people don’t know how to use.

Get a grip on reality.   I know who you are for real and was never impressed with you.
You of all people should be claiming that others are "unintelligent."
Grow up -- people have different opinions.
