Mayor McCarthy is taking the appropriate steps to begin improving the neighborhoods of the city.  This park is part of good, strategic plan to bring the RENAISSANCE to all parts of the city.

"to begin"???   will any good trickle down to my part of the city in my lifetime,or is this another "generational"renaissance plan?

Because it's like getting a luxury suite on the Costa Concordia.  Sure, the thread count on the sheets may be comfortable and the views are nice, but the captain is still on course to sink the ship.

Mayor McCarthy and the City Council are steering the ship in the right direction.  The evidence is all around to see,  After decades of decline and businesses moving OUT of the city, new businesses and new construction is taking place IN the city.
Every time a piece of good news comes out, you and the other nayboobs either ignore it or find some bizarre way to attack it.  Quite frankly that is why you folks are such boring boors.  You whine and complain that nothing is being done in the neighborhoods -- and, then, whine and complain when something IS done in the neighborhoods.

And as for the latest insane rantings of MikeChristine -- all i will say is -- you continue to prove your are an a**hole with every post that you make.  Your "evidence" is nothing but a pile of crap.  You post a bunch of lies and unfounded personal attacks while hiding behind your username because you are a pathetic chickenshit loser.

"New businesses moving in?"   A bunch of GIN MILLS at taxpayer expense??????   A bunch of gin mills paid for by people who have their homes seized because they cannot afford to pay the increasing taxes   So, DV, you think corporate welfare, taking money from lower income people to give to billionaires is "going in the right direction."   HUH?

Our "evidence" is nothing but a pile of crap?    Really?   Can you provide one teeny weeny shred of proof that our evidence is crap?    Huh?

EACH AND EVERYONE on these boards knows FULL WELL that our evidence is 1,000% FACTUAL and that the FACT that you, DV, have NEVER, and CANNOT, and WILL NEVER disprove our evidence is proof that YOU are the big pathological LIAR on these boards, you have NO CREDIBILITY whatsoever as the statements you make you have NEVER provided evidence, like your statements about taxes being lower now than in the 1970's, you have NEVER provided ONE teeny weeny shred of EVIDENCE to prove that!

DV says OUR EVIDENCE is crap - So, DV, that means that DV is saying:

--The official assessment roll of the city of Schenectady has fake numbers

--The equalization rate of 123% for the city of Schenectady is just a made up number

--The list of ALL equalization rates for all municipalities in the state of NY, as published by the NYS Dept of Tax and Finance shows that only one location has a higher equalization rate than the city of Schenectady, which mean that Schenectady is the SECOND HIGHEST OVER-ASSESSED city in the WHOLE STATE OF NY.   So, DV, is stating those numbers from the State Tax Dept are all fake.

--The records WE provided showing the politically connected tax deadbeats which come from the official City of Schenectady School District website itself, updated DAILY - those records are all fake.

-- The mortgage documents of two politically connected tax deadbeats - documents that PROVE they have no-interest mortgages without any repayment schedule - obviously DV says  those official Schenectady county documents are fakes.

--The official documentation from the county showing the 100% tax exemptions from the politically  connected millionaires and billionaires are just fake records, right?

--The records of falling home sales in the city while home sales are increasing outside the city and county are apparently just imaginary records.

--The records of falling home sale prices in the city of Schenectady while home sale prices outside the city are increasing -- sales prices taken from official  government records of municipalities around here, guess DV is claiming those numbers are all fake too.

Now, anyone taking bets that DV will NOT address OUR EVIDENCE of falling tax base, politically connected tax deadbeats, falling property values, falling home sales, falling home sale prices, homeowners losing money on their homes, reductions in ESSENTIAL services combined with increased taxes?  Nor will he EVER provide a shred of evidence to disprove our evidence!

And we take this opportunity again to state the TRUTH -- that Eastern Ave neighborhood already has a park IN the neighborhood to recreate, and the city DOES NOT MAINTAIN IT.

So WHY should a very small neighborhood have two parks when the city can't take care of the long existing park in that neighborhood and the city can't take care of the rest of the parks, but taxes should be increased on people for more parks.

Appropriate steps, steering the ship, when did this start? For at least the last three years, the market value of my house has gone downward. 2014 was a tremendous hit in market value. It's not adding up.
Who gets the blame for that? Maybe 2015 will bring somewhat different news.

DV will tell you that your claim that your home value is going down is just a lie, next thing is he will be calling YOU a pathological liar.  He absolutely cannot accept the truth, so he LIES and claims OUR evidence is a bunch of crap, but he will NEVER respond and address HOW the evidence is crap.

He just has the wildest imagination, since he lies so much, I hope he is not going to receive Communion without telling the priest that he lies all the time, and we are still waiting for publication of his "fairy" tale book.

Still waiting for him to provide HIS EVIDENCE that taxes are lower now than in the 1970's.

Obviously the only way he has orgasms is when he posts and states that the city is improving.

And again, the EVIDENCE is that the Eastern Ave neighborhood already has a park, has had one for decades and the city does NOT take care of it, so there is absolutely no need to create a second park at taxpayer expense, the people CANNOT AFFORD IT.   Having two taxpayer funded parks in just a few short blocks will cause more foreclosures in the city.  The long existing park is only FIVE SHORT BLOCKS away from the new park.

The city does not and cannot take care of the exiting parks and the Democrat Voice of "FAIRY" tales will NOT address that FACT.

You should be happy you have a new park.  That should help recoup your three year loss in home value.TIC

Bravo MC1. The existing park system was built for a City of 120,000 not 60,000. This is more idiocy from the no ideas crew. On one hand they plan to
close Elmer Ave School and than build a park? Next we will hear how many jobs a park creates. Eastern Ave used to have a thriving retail sector with furniture stores, groceries, etc.
And no park needed. Even the bars have now closed. A graffitiscape of empty homes and boarded up stores. Maybe Metrograft can find a new gin mill?

Very good points made there, some I had not thought of.

So, let's summarize this:

--City built for 120,000
--City now has 60,000
--A park as long existed just FIVE SHORT BLOCKS away (Landon and Windsor) which the city has ignored, does not have the money to maintain.
--Another park WILL attract the neighborhood drug dealers
--Another park would require the city to pay employees to maintain it, mow the lawn, clear the brush, shovel the sidewalk, etc and since it is the TRUTH, AND FACT that the city does NOT maintain the park that is only 5 SHORT BLOCKS away, then we know the city will NOT maintain this proposed one.

But another park is a good thing?

HEY!   I read in some news report that the city may demolish the Copper Keg on Eastern Ave, I think that's about a half block away from the proposed park.

Maybe plex can renovate the Copper Keg building!   Gee, that would probably be great there, then the city can pick up beer cans from those who would leave the premises of the "McCarthy Keg" and hang out drinking at "McCarthy Park"

The proposed park .... give folks  ...   without having to walk a far distance to a park ....

"... walk a far distance ..."

From approximately where St John's is to Central Park is 1.5 miles.

Hey DV, did you know that walking is healthy?

DV, you REALLY think a mere 1 to 1.5 miles is "a far distance?"

I can't tell you how many times we have walked to Curry Freeze from where we live, it's in the Hamburg St area, so depending on whether it's a walk down to the roundabout and walk Curry Rd completely, or whether it's cutting through to Altamont Ave, it's about a 2 to 3 mile walk one way.   More often we bike it to Curry Freeze, but sometimes we walk.  But it is not at all unusual for us to walk 1.5, 2, 2.5 miles, not for being anti-car, not for all those environmental reasons, but because it's exercise.

But then, your gut and all your eating out at restaurants, it's obvious you don't exercise so you have no clue that it is NOT "a far distance" for people to walk to Central Park from the Eastern Ave area.

Lastly, DV, hate to tell you, but most people have cars or bikes.

So your rationale for the alleged "need" for a park (1.5 miles from one park and only five SHORT blocks from another) is NOT a valid argument.   Now, go ask your two mommies to buy you a treadmill.

So what if the neighborhood already has another park?  (Oh - and it is not "4 short blocks away" -- almost 6 blocks -- but then the same nayboob who can't spell (just look at the title of the thread) can't count or tell the truth.)  There is no reason why a neighborhood can not have more than one park.
As for safety, the new park will be visible from a main street and police patrols going down that street.
As for any vacant, neglected houses or lack of businesses, I suggest that if the nayboobs really were concerned -- they would buy those vacant, neglected houses and move into them AND would open up a business in the neighborhood.  They won't because it takes too much effort to actually DO something positive and all they have the ability to do is whine and complain.

I would open a business,  but I don't want to suck some politicians a** so I can receive Metroplex giveaways and tax exemptions that my politically connected competitors get.

OOOOOHHHHH!!!!!   OH THAT IS SOOOOO TERRIBLE.  So it's not "just" 4 blocks.  OF FOR SHAME IT'S A WHOPPING 6 BLOCKS AWAY!!!!!!!    OH MY GOD,   OH 6 BLOCKS !!!!   Oh that is SO TERRIBLE that someone should EVER be required to walk 6 bocks to go to a park!!!!

Of course, DV wouldn't even walk ONE block !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Proof in the gut

What if the neighborhood has another park??????    DUH!    DV, people CANNOT AFFORD THE TAXES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But of course, DV has NEVER been a taxpayer, is NOT one now, does NOT have a mortgage to pay, does NOT have property taxes to pay, does NOT have to pay for maintenance and repairs and upkeep to a house.  He has his two rich mommies to support him,  So DV DOES NOT UNDERSTAND what it means to pay taxes.

DV, you have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE WHATSOEVER what it means to be a typical family in the city, existing on less than $40,000 a year, trying to pay a mortgage but because the city leaders have forced you to pay the taxes for the billionaires, your home value as plummeted and you are underwater on your mortgage.   DV, let me teach you something,   When someone owns a house, has a mortgage and the payoff balance on the mortgage is higher than the market value of the house, that is a MAJOR FINANCIAL problem for the homeowner as they cannot sell their house for what they owe on it, so that means IF you sold your house you would STILL have to pay the mortgage on your old house even when you do not own it!!!!

Obviously DV, since you have NEVER had to support yourself, you have your two rich mommies to provide for you, you cannot comprehend that the people in the city CANNOT AFFORD any more taxes.

So you say we all should be a house in the city?   DUH, we have more financial sense than that.  We have more intelligence than that.  Normal people do NOT buy a house that is falling in value.   But then, you would not know because YOU are not normal.   Normal adult men of 50+ years old do NOT live with two mommy figures, normal adult men even if not married are independent, either rent an apartment or own their own home, and they fully support themselves.

So, as you do not have pay a mortgage, taxes, feed a family, clothe your children, save for your children's college, etc, etc., you do not understand that people cannot afford taxes to have two parks just a few blocks away from each other

But DV, the FACT that you REFUSE to buy a house IN the city obviously proves that you totally agree with me, you do not want to buy a house in a city with massively plummeting property values.

Now, would you care to explain why a SMALL neighborhood NEEDS two parks only 6 blocks away from each other?   Why should the poor pay for all those parks?   Why do you cheer for every increase on the taxpayers?   Would Jesus take my side and say it's wrong to take from the poor and give to the rich?   Or would Jesus take your side and say it's correct to take from the poor and give to the rich?   Whose side is Jesus on?   My side or your side?

And what do YOU do for the city?   Don't see you at any of the park or neighborhood clean-ups.  Didn't see you at the Concern for the Hungry doing sign-ups, sorting food items, packing Thanksgiving "baskets" for the poor in the city or either helping distribute on site or driving around the neighborhoods in the city to deliver some.   Don't see your name as a contributor to Proctors.  Waiting to see you spend the night with the homeless families, cooking for them, washing bedding, etc as part of Family Promise.  Don't see you endorsing healthy lifestyles via walking---instead you say that people should not have to walk such a far distance (either 6 blocks or 1.5 miles) to a park.  Do see you criticizing the taxing of poor homeowners to give to the rich political cronies.  Don't see you criticizing the city for taxing people so high that they lose their homes.
