ROTTERDAM, N.Y. – A cashier at the Rotterdam Walmart used her own money so an elderly man in her line could afford all of his groceries.

Jenny Karpen was a new employee at Walmart and working one of the registers when an older man entered her lane to check out.

“He was an older gentleman,” she said. “He was getting his groceries. Some of it was food, and some of it was for his pet.”

The man handed Karpen some money.

“And he was like, ‘Is it enough?” Karpen recalled. “And I was like, ‘No, it's not.' So he was trying to take stuff back.”

But Karpen wouldn't let him leave without his groceries.

“I felt really bad for him,” she said. “I didn't want him to go home and not have something that he really needed to eat.”

Instead, Karpen took $40 out of her own pocket for the man to use toward his groceries.

“He didn't quite realize what happened,” she said.

Her manager, Jamie Cobb was stunned.

“When I heard that I just couldn't believe that,” she said.

After the man gathered his things and left, the next person in line offered Karpen money in return for her good deed.

“And so he offered to give me the $40, and I was like, ‘It's not policy for me to take the money,'” she said. “I'm sorry.”

“There should be more people like that in the world,” Cobb said. “We just need to clone Jenny. We need to have Jenny's one through ten.”

Karpen never asked for the man's name. She said she's never done anything like that before but hopes others follow in her footsteps.

               hysterical naked,
dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for
               an angry fix,"

every time a celebrity or a royal 'blow through a town/city' they should do what this cashier did.....it's just sad that the accolades
given the 'poor' are this....and yet the players in hollywood/sports/politicians all use their giving as a career advancement.....
in the long run, this cashier would survive the zombie apocalypse......

kudos to her....even though this hit the news let's hope walmart doesn't 'take it away from her'......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
