It was here at one time......and now hasn't been on this site for awhile...

it is reported in the Gazette / TU  ....would be a plus for residents to see where these perps are coming from....

There were some individuals who's names appeared on the Rotterdam Blotter that were arrested, but found not guilty. Once we posted the Police Blotters to this message board, they were on the internet forever. (cashed) We received many emails asking that we remove their names since they were found innocent of the crime they were arrested for. When some of these people applied for jobs or applied to a college, their names would show up on-line.

Even though we removed these names from this message board, the web browsers had already Cashed them, so we had to contact each web browser separately and asked them to delete the names.

We hope this explains why we decided to stop posting Police Blotters.

the blotter doesn't belong in the paper either.....being on the blotter doesn't mean one is guilty.....police are NOT judge/jury....

putting the blotter in the paper lends relevance to 'the police are gods'.....

do they have a difficult job,,,,sure,,,,but remember they ARE NOT GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES....they are private security companies
with government contracts......

the media has done a HUGE DISSERVICE to the country by reporting on stories of 'they may be guilty/not' but the story is too
juicy/horrific/awful not to tell.....

Americans have stopped believing in innocent until proven guilty and salivate at the prospect that their neighbor is a 'worse' person
than themselves.....

shame shame shame on us, the media and our leaders.........

small minded simpletons who like their ears tickled.....

Patches needs to know where the drug dealers are, and what parking lots they are in.

Agreed and 1st impressions are everything, the papers also never retracts their statement or follows up on the majority of cases in which many are found not guilty. The blotter is there to give the readers the impression of guilt and that little article could hurt people down the road even if found not guilty.

Just making a guess here.   Maybe the adminstrators do this to show the general public the police are doing their job-rounding up the "usual suspects".   That the police are getting results.   Makes people "feel" safe.   But point is well taken, there are no retractions in the paper for those found not guilty,at least at the lower level of charged crimes.   Just the sensationalized ones get that denotation in the media.

political administrators you mean......you know, the ones that sign the contracts......shame on the political administrators
for taking what is a truth and making a half truth full of lies for the public.....

the 'usual suspects' is a good term.....it's things like that, that allow for the public to keep tolerating the 'other usual suspects'
that dress nicer, have nicer cars and homes but are still suspects.....

feeling safe is one thing, feeling used by politicians isn't good, no wonder voter turn out sucked...

apathy and anger doesn't boded well....

Well then...here it is....proven innocent does not mean they are not guilty...

remember many perps get special favors in many different ways...DEFENSE lawyers do their job well.....and they know their way around the system.

someone who commits a felony and it is reduced to a misdemeanor....when in fact a plea bargain sets the tone of innocent or guilty...

experience in the system........my thought is unless you are truly innocent....you wouldn't put yourself in a questionable situation...

think back about DWI's.....for years these people arrested for that drove everyday.....paying a fine....getting a ticket...and maybe having it reduced to

a lesser charge.....it happened all the time.....and THEN the laws changed.....now if you are caught ..heavy fines, license taken away...etc.,

the FACEBOOK has many incriminating chatter./pictures.....now  in many cases potential employers are watching very closely and that effects a

person's reputation in today's world.... it's time to protect the people who are truly innocent.....and BTW....some people's names NEVER appear in the

paper......and why is that?????......

and yes, reports of drug deals in parking lots have been reported....yet ......NOTTA...

The justice system is just like any other system in this country.....it's who you know, how much money you have...etc.,...just take a look at our

government...they are the worse offenders.....

My thoughts and I am sticking to it.....so have your conversation and critique all you want.....GAZETTE and TU report it all the time....there is a site

for Schenectady / Landords ....and they have the latest arrests with names......so if you are going to eliminate it  on this blog......then all the other sites

must be insensitive to what the ADMIN on this blog believes...

by what standard? who are truly innocent?

I agree wholeheartedly about 'knowing someone' and 'getting out of trouble'....but that isn't the problem...the problem are the number
of laws that MAKE criminals out of those 'truly innocent'......

the social contract requires EVERYONE to admit guilt and pay their dues.....it's called whitewashing so that the masses 'feel better'
about the insane system....or quite frankly just say fu(k it and give up.....

Unless the papers request that a search engine delete it.  Especially if the paper is accused of libel.

the US was built on making sure the 'perp' goes through the justice system....the justice system is not your mommy/daddy

because before America the kings would make a perp out of EVERYONE even if they were stealing bread to eat, or if the perp
didn't go to the kings church, or if the perp disagreed with the king etc etc.......

everyone is a victim of SOMETHING....even if it's being a victim of standing in line at walmart where everyone is
UNDERSERVED because there is only 1 cash register open and the a$$ behind you is on their cell phone using poor english
and swearing up a blue streak....

don't get me wrong, I find swearing cathartic at times, but standing in line in walmart is cruel and unusual punishment....

You can try to delete things from search engines, but cached copied are kept all over the place.

This link will show you actual hard copy scans of gazette newspapers.

http://fultonhistory.com/my%20photo%20albums/All%20Newspapers/Schenectady%20NY%20Gazette/index.html

You can't delete hard copies.

Those hard copies were all scanned using optical character recognition software, making them all searchable as well.

That same website has searchable hard copies of approximately 1,000 newspapers containing over 28 million scanned pages from our surrounding areas.

http://fultonhistory.com/my%20photo%20albums/All%20Newspapers/

All of these are searchable at the same time from here:
