Developer targets Schenectady for luxury apartment project

A developer from Rotterdam, New York is planning to invest $7 million to construct a four-story building with office space and nearly 40 luxury apartments in Schenectady.

According to a report from the Daily Gazette, John Luke Hodorowski of J. Luke Construction is pursuing the project at 242 Broadway in Schenectady on a less than 1 acre parcel located next to Villa Italia Bakery. The property is owned by MXW Holding Corp. of Albany. Hodorowski and MXW are negotiating a purchase price.

Here is the report from the Gazette.

This is very good news!

We need to create density in the downtown area with places that higher income people will live.

When the second train track between Albany and Schenectady opens up in the next year or two the demand for luxury apartments will increase.  Schenectady could become the ultimate bedroom community of the area.  Keep it coming with the restaurants and bars and the entertainment.

Then let them pay for it THEMSELVES! Eliminate the tax breaks...if the City isn't going to do Sh*t for Mt Pleasant and the hill, at least they can refrain from asking them to fund others.

I didn't see the announcement of the PILOT or tax handout.   Are you sure there is one?

Not yet, but I'll take anyone's bet it will happen... Everyone downtown got theirs, what makes you think this will be any different?

Ahh...the strategy of wedging the poor out of their homes to make room for the wealthy.

I questioned that myself. I'm sure if the METROPLEX/GILLEN is doling out money, they will ADVERTISE it everywhere and the gazette will be the first place it will be published.
This will be a wait and see regarding 'handouts'.

It already is. In case you missed it a gangland style robbery at one of the 2 open businesses left on Crane St. Guns drawn on the owner and bakers. The REP/Alliance
will win when they actually campaign and respond to the pile of junk mail put out by Joseph Goebbels aka Dark Superman. Just blogging and Facebooking does not a winning
campaign make.

Awesome news.

Are YOU going to move there?????

Hell, you can't even afford the Section 8 rent.

Heck, you are no where near being adult enough to live on your own.    Little BABY still nursing, and needs two mommies.

DV won't even put a pinky toe IN the city, he has even abandoned going to church IN the city, that's how much he avoids the city,

Gosh DV is so very jealous of people who are normal, self sufficient, own their own homes; he can't handle the fact that he is unsuccessful so he cheers for the dems taxing everyone to the point of losing their homes.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Of course not. It took years to rent out 2 luxury units on State so this makes no sense. Notice they are not condos because no one would pay the insane DEM confiscatory taxes. No local stores/no Downtown school/nearest grocery in Scotia. More tax support for the DEM fat cats that bought up Broadway parcels and can't move them. It will be
as successful as the vacant first floor retail across the street.
