Second Wolff's Biergarten opening in downtown Schenectady
Oct 29, 2014, 7:01am EDT
Matt Baumgartner and business partners will open the second location for Wolff's Biergarten Wednesday.

.

Look the socialist big government DV CHEERS for the STEALING from homeowners, forcing them---under threat of losing their homes--to pay for this, yet another, gin mill.

He posts the news story

But does DV bother to post the story of a business that opened yesterday WITHOUT being on the city/co/plex dem party taxpayer dole?   NOT ONE WORD!

A business owner doesn't have to worry about a saturated market when he gets a taxpayer subsidy. A small share will do nicely.
There is something wrong with places that serve booze getting gubmint subsidies altogether, I believe. Suppose you are a recovering alcoholic, or perhaps a member of one of the many religious sects that does not approve of consumption of spirits? Isn't all alcohol banned from federal property? I firmly believe that those who wish to enjoy adult beverages have every right to do so; but should my neighbors who abstain for religious reasons be getting gouged to support gin mills?
Someone seems to be drunk an awful lot lately. This is a blind item, so no, I'm not naming names. If the shoe fits, sober up, you bum. People are noticing.

Wolff's had a "Preview Party" on Tuesday.  Something that a number of businesses do and others have "soft openings" before the formal Grand Opening.  Wolff's actual opening to the general public - according- to the piece which began the thread is on Wednesday at 6 P.M.

Enjoy the great German beers and food.  As always, drink  responsibly.  Some fools think that they have to get drunk or that others get drunk when having a beer.  Those fools should be reminded to drink their metamucil or other laxatives responsibly.   The fact is that most people drink responsibly.  Prost!

Wolffs Biergarten - Willkommen in Schenectady ! Mögen Sie verfügen über langjährige erfolgreiche Geschäfte.

This isn't even a German restaurant. Enjoy your renaissance hot dog stand-no kitchen. This is to German food what Bombers or horrible Mexican Radio is to Mexican food. Another gin mill that gets a
tax exemption from the DEM machine. They pay nothing-so the oppressed City homeowners can pay more for all the police calls. Another moron "improvement" over KEM cleaners that employed so many for
decades.

No, SF, he would never get I DWI. For the record, I don't care how much alcohol anybody consumes when they go out. My concern is with people for whom any amount of booze at all being forbidden, paying for yet another government gin mill. Also with a rather public figure getting tanked all the time. If you are chronically tanked, even off the job, you are not fit for duty the next workday.

You call it a "moron improvement" but who is talking like a moron?  KEM's hasn't employed ANYONE in over 10 years and that empty building didn't employ anyone either during that same time.

If you could do better, open up a business yourself.  Otherwise, you are just another nayboob jealousy crying because someone else took the time, energy and expense to open up a successful business.

Cheer for the taxpayer funded gin mills.   Just because YOU cannot get off the "auntie"  teats, leave the nest, and be a normal independent and self supporting adult in your own house or apartment, you want your buddies to tax everyone else out of their homes so the people are no longer have a home of their own.

Must be embarrassing to be 50+ yr old, unable to live like a normal adult.  Wonder when you go to a high school reunion and everyone talks about leaving the nest, getting married, raising a family, and totally self supporting, do all your classmates know you have not left the nest yet?   Oh, probably avoid going to reunions because it has to be a major embarrassment to say " I am not independent, living on my own, and self supporting. I still have not left the nest."

I checked it out tonight, kind of cool to see Matt B behind the bar again, and walking around busing tables. They have more beers on draft than the Albany location, lots of delicious German staples on tap, far less food than the Albany location as they don't have a full kitchen, they are having rotating food trucks parked outside to add to the limited selections inside. All in all it was rather nice, but nothing special, I will go back, but can't see myself being a regular... Also, I noted for the Birthday crowd, they have Das Boot, but it is noticeably smaller than Albany's. You can now get the free B-day t shirt for just drinking the Schenectady boot, and the Schenectady margarita, as opposed to 3 drinks for the Albany shirt. Also Bomber's is doing free hourly delivery to Wolfe's which is an interesting idea. Hope this helps....

Congratulations, you recognize that Kem Cleaners failed.

Every business in Schenectady has or is nearing property tax death.

Perhaps if Metroplex funds weren't doled out as corporate welfare, and taxes were average, instead of the highest in the country, Kem cleaners would still be alive.

These new idiots opening new businesses don't realize that they signed a deal with the devil.

Sure, they get tax exemptions, cash grants, zero interest loans, etc, but they will be paying even higher taxes as metroplex continues to rope in new suckers, spending millions and millions more each year.

The property tax rates will continue to rise out of control.

If you could do better, open up a business yourself.  Otherwise, you are just another nayboob jealousy crying because someone else took the time, energy and expense to open up a successful business.

A business isn't a success until it is paying full taxes and is no longer being subsidized with corporate welfare.

I don't understand your cheering for entitlements for corporations and uncontrolled spending.

Tax and spend, yippee!

Do you realize how many Schenectady taxpayers could start small businesses throughout the city with one year of Metroplex's budget?

Hundreds and hundreds.

But hey, who want's hundreds and hundreds of small businesses all over the city when we can have ten corporate welfare conglomerates downtown.

KEM's went out of business 10 or more years ago. Unlike the person that I was responding to, I knew that KEM's had been closed.  BTW - KEMs closed when Jurzynski was running the city and Farley the county -- so "thank" them for creating the high taxes and anti-business climate that killed so many businesses a decade ago.

Now businesses are opening and PAYING taxes  - sales tax and property (even if temporarily reduced - even a P.I.L.O.T. counts as revenue ) -- and more importantly creating jobs and creating positive activity in the area that they are located in. Driving home along Erie Blvd from my office in the city last night, it was great to see the lights shining on the businesses along Erie Blvd .. and the positive presence of people patronizing those businesses.

It will only get better --- the BEST is yet to come.  The RENAISSANCE continues.

PROVIDE EVIDENCE DV!!!    Provide EVIDENCE of YOUR WORDS, "...property (even if temporarily reduced ..."    PROVIDE EVIDENCE that the taxes are reduced only TEMPORARILY   !!!!!!!!!!!

I have provided EVIDENCE numerous times here that the 100% TAX EXEMPTIONS have NO END DATE, which means they are PERMAMENT !!!!!!

All the properties belonging to the super filthy rich billionaire Galesi, the poor people of he city are paying his property taxes.   You support that???????
You support the poor paying the taxes of the rich, which is being done under threat from the city of people having their homes seized if they cannot afford to pay the taxes of a billionaire.

Now, DV, we all challenge you to provide EVIDENCE of Galesis being 100% tax exempt only temporarily.

Hey, NONE of us are holding our breath that you will respond AND provide evidence of YOUR WORDS that it's only temporary.

And tell us DV, is it morally, ethically, socially, and financially proper for any millionaires and billionaires to pay less than full taxes while financially struggling homeowners, the overwhelming majority who have incomes of only $40,000, to be forced to pay remainder share of the tax bills of millionaires and billionaires?????    Is it DV??????   Can you answer that??????    ALL of us on these boards know that you will NOT specifically address the forcing homeowners under threat of having homes seized by the city to pay the taxes of the rich downtown.

And tell us DV, all this wild uncontrolled spending of taxpayer dollars on downtown and the theft from taxpayers to pay the taxes of the rich downtown, tell us DV, what are the homeowners getting in return?   Can you answer that?????    Where are all the retail stores downtown at which people can shop?   Where are clothing stores?   Where are the show stores?   Where are the CD/DVD stores?   Where can you buy craft needs (sewing machines, fabric, yarn, etc).   Where can buy peanuts?   Where can you buy home needs---from pots and pans to draperies and everything in between?

Where can you even buy a new car IN the city -- DOWNTOWN OR ELSEWHERE ?????????    Well ?????    Cat go your tongue or are you getting fed your milk.

DV, we trust that you DO fully know that the absolute final last TAXPAYING clothing store downtown closed a while back due to having to pay Galesi's taxes AND since the city dems forced them to pay Galesi's taxes on top of their own, the city is now seizing their building for taxes.   But you are all praise for the city stealing from the small business to pay the taxes of the rich !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can we all imagine the day of the second coming when God asks DV these questions and he doesn't answer then either.   "DV why did you support the poor of Schenectady paying the taxes of the rich?   Why did you support the city leaders making the poor homeless while the rich got richer?"

It certainly is a sign that things are turning around.  10-15 years ago, Downtown was dark, dingy and deteriorating.  Now, it is brighter, getting spruced up and fixed up.  Those of us who are reasonable, sensible and love Schenectady are happy to see the city-county moving forward in a positive direction.  There is more work still to be done but it is great to enjoy the milestones of success (like the opening of each new business or reopening of reinvigorated older business) along the way.
