Grew up a hick, from a family of hicks. These tv shows are exploiting rural culture and roots and making them look like ignorant morons. Some of course are, but it should have to be explained that of course they all aren't. These shows are not marketed and designed to "lift" these people or their regions up. They are being made fun of. I'm not into making fun of people and portraying them as idiots.

Idiots? The duck dynasty members are multi-millionaires, if anything it should show people that anyone can succeed in life

Boohoo many people like to play the victim and for some they play the Atheist card, not one thing on your list you posted denied anyone their rights in this country not one. There is no right which makes people have to accept you or your lifestyle and that is the fact you and others need to understand if you want to go forward in life. If the boy scouts don't accept you create your own scout club, if a private school doesn't want you start a private atheist school, if you want to post billboards create a company and post them, nothing hard about understanding that.

A business can not deny services to a person because of their religious beliefs. Period. It is illegal. Period. Illegal. Illegal. Illegal.

There is nothing hard in understanding that.

Geez...I've watched a few episodes of it.  I never viewed it that way.  What I took away from it was a couple of savvy college graduates that start a business making duck calls, and expanding their brand and becoming successful millionaires, while appearing to maintain their rural religious and cultural roots.  Then when interviewed, Phil was asked a question about gay marriage, and his opinion on Gay Marriage was based on his biblical belief, the secular media came down on Phil and Duck Dynasty with full force.  And as you stated, losing 50% of their audience.

The episode I saw was not like that at all. Some guy eating rotten pickles they found in the swamp and puking everywhere. Even my parents who love the show say it's so funny cause of all the dumb stuff they do.

Beside, duck dynasty is just one among this genre...honey boo boo, etc.

Jersey shore folks became millionaires too--they were still being exploited as stereotypes.

Why would you want to give your hard earned money to a business that looks down on you? If it was me I would want to know if the owner thought I was a piece of $hit because of my race or religion, that way I would go somewhere else where they respected by race or religion and welcomed my business.

Maybe we should create 'separate currency"... one without "In GOD We Trust"!

I don't give a crap what other's think of me, it's none of my business what other's think of me. I'm fairly certain that the owners of most large corporations view me as a pee-on who is beneath them. Yeah, like Mobil, or National Grid, or Time Warner or Walmart....respect me. Ha! Ha! I just want to conduct business, do my job without them interfering in my personal life. Live and let live.

Unfortunately, not true. Ever tried to pay with gold at Price Chopper? They can't even handle cash without the cashier having a breakdown cause they have to actually be able to count it!

Seriously, had a cashier give me a wad of money to count back my own change. She didn't even have to figure what the change should be, just needed to count it out and she couldn't do it.

virtual value and 'credits'......

we'll never know how rich the rich are when it comes down to credits....

it's all about access....stockpiling credits/fiat/currency is not the same as stockpiling gold/silver/oil.......access to food water housing
clothing etc is where it's at.....what the value of that access is, depends on who has the controls and how the levers are used.

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Why would religion be brought up in a work place anyways? No job I ever had has asked what religion I am and frankly it is none of their business. And explain to me how atheist are not allowed to live their lives and just be left alone, I know atheist who do just that. Nobody forces them into religion just like nobody can force me not to believe in a higher power. Sorry Parent but atheist are not anymore of a victim then anyone else.

Well said! ^5
