Oh listen to him, talking about if X amount paid taxes, the taxes would go down X percent.  He repeats the sentence referencing the property that Union college took off the tax rolls and how much that would have otherwise reduced the taxes in the city

But he does NOT mention how much taxes have gone up drastically due to homeowners paying the taxes on all the downtown properties.  Households with incomes of $40,000 paying the taxes of the downtown properties owned by millionaire and billionaire cronies of the city/co/plex

And that Hafez or whatever his name is, he spoke correctly, the taxes are high and when taxes are high houses get foreclosed which means the city owns the properties and must spend money to maintain them which causes taxes to go higher, properties get blighted and demolished (at taxpayer expense) which means fewer properties on the tax rolls, a never ending vicious cycle.

The city needs to remove ALL tax exemptions for downtown and GE (except REAL not-for-profits which serve the poor).

But nothing will happen and people don't complain, when everything outside downtown is a ghost town, maybe people will wake up.  But then wait, the only ones left will be the renters whose rent is paid by the taxpayers so they won't care.

ALL the evidence proves there is not one speck of a renaissance in the city.  A falling tax base does NOT indicate a renaissance and I challenge anyone to prove otherwise.

None of this would of never happen to the city of schenectady if Stratton and McCarthy had continued courting the Guyanese real estate investors from NYC there would be a budget surplus right now. But no Stratton and McCarthy chased all the real estate buyers out by implementing bad policies and increased taxes and fees to pay for wildly projects like the Taj Mahal and the $500,000 giveaway to Galesi for the DSS building on nott and much more other ones. This is why we are in debt. Mayor spent more money than he took in. Listen carefully when McCarthy speaks of (investors aka Guyanese) as if they are a social ill on the city of schenectady. He has the self proclaimed first ever Guyanese city council member John Mutetooveren as a puppet by his side. McCarthy your a fool the investors from NYC is the breadbasket for the city coffers. You shouldn't place you bet on Galesi and Rush Casino the house always wins. What does Galesi and Rush bring to the City coffers? Thats right nothing.  But you speak highly of Galesi and Rush Casino aren't they absentee landlords as well and they don't pay any taxes??? McCarthy is a egotistical hypocrit.  Got news for you McCarthy the investors are sitting back waiting for you to drown in all of the foreclosures and they will be watching and waiting for you to get kicked out of office and then they will have the last laugh!

EXACTLY! Since you don't even live in the city....why the rants? Or is someone else feeding you?

put some of that effort into your own town that is 'attempting' to follow the city's example?

or are  you gonna be like the folks in the city and wait until IT IS SO BAD....yer stuck here????

Oh, so people cannot speak about anything but their own town.  Are you the board's admin now, limiting speech?   Or are you one of the city's cronies, embarrassed about the truths being told?

People can say whatever they like. It's when they keep repeating the same thing day after day week after week month after month and year after year, it begins to lose it's relevancy. All you do is talk. You never act. Ever!! You're all talk and no action. If you're never going to do anything about the things you bring up, then you have no credibility. So either put up and do something instead of whining in cyber space and internet stalking, or shut the f*** up!!!

Usually avoid the pissing matches, but have to agree with you on this one.  Have a lot of respect for BT's insight and not real crazy about your calling out DVOR all the time since I view that as bullying.  It is everyone's right to post as they feel appropriate, and the information MC1 provides appears to be highly accurate and well supported.  If it doesn't pertain to certain members, it is still preferable to have the information made public for those impacted than to sweep it under the rug.  If exposing City corruption is MC1's "thing" (regardless of residency), nothing wrong with openly providing the facts.  City taxpayers need all the help they can get!

I agree, keep the information flowing.

The goat molestor deserves whatever he gets, constantly calling overtaxed people, the problem with his friends pillaging of the city.

He stated clearly that complaining taxpayers are the biggest problem in the city/town county.

He's one of the biggest bi-polar tax and spend Democrat, Republican, prolife, pro-war, pro-tax, pro-corporate welfare, pro-alcohol based economy, idiots this village has ever had.
