Two dogs ran out of the house, each bit a mail carrier.  Plymouth Ave.

Wonder if these dogs were licensed.   Guessing that since city clerk Chuckie can't do his job on a timely basis that he probably has not even looked at the reports made by the teens that were going around doing the dog census.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Schenectady Police said a mail carrier was attacked by two pit bulls Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. in the area of 539 Plymouth Ave, according to police. Police said the mail carrier was bitten multiple times. The victim was treated at the scene and taken to Ellis Hospital.

Police could not say the extent of his injuries.

Ronald Deguerre lives on Plymouth Avenue. He said he keeps his dog on a leash out of respect for other people.

“When people are walking up the sidewalk, I will do my best to avoid them, go across the street to not intimidate the person because not everybody's comfortable with dogs,” he said.

Nicole Armstrong also lives on Plymouth Avenue. She was shocked by the news but called the dogs' owner negligent and irresponsible.

“I think I just feel sad for everyone involved,” she said. “I feel bad for the postal worker because no one should have to deal with that at work, but on the other hand, where's the owner? Dogs are out and about, but where is the owner? So I don't know if necessarily the pit bulls should be in trouble for that.”

Police said the pit bulls are owned by Danielle Monty of Schenectady. The dogs were seized by animal control, and Monty was issued two summonses for Unlicensed Dog and further charges are expected once the investigation is complete.http://www.news10.com/story/26719642/mail-carrier-attacked-by-schenectady-pit-bulls

Obviously another task Chuckie is not doing.

He's over 5 months behind doing his job posting council minutes on the city's website.

He is obviously not doing anything about the unlicensed dogs stuff after the "dog census" this summer.

Must have been McThief and Chuckie called the news media to tell them a fairy tale about a dog census, city is desperate to make it look like it is doing something in the neighborhoods when all the evidence says otherwise.

Not only should the mail carrier sue the dog's owner, but the carrier should sue the city for failure to do it's job regarding the dog licenses.

So let me get this straight...

One of the very people that were enlisted to help the dog problem by documenting problem dogs, is attacked to the point of hospitalization.

So it appears we have proof of yet another instance of a stupid idea from McCarthy.

a guy I work with lives in the city of Schenectady. They have a dog...old mixed breed.

this is how they determine if you have a dog or not....ready?

they ring the door bell/knock on your door....if a dog barks, they leave a note stating that you have so many days to get  your dog licensed.

YUP.....that's how they did it in his neighborhood.

I thought I remember reading that if no one answers the door and they hear a dog, they write down the address, bring that list to the city who then will look up the address to see if there is record of a dog license for that address.

But with Chuckie, who knows, obvious he's not doing his job

Agreed.

Many carry pepper spray. My  brother, a retired carrier used an umbrella. Pop one open on a dog and see what happens.

Instead of beefing up the swamped SPD dog units the DEMS have a census for revenue generation. And it's all over. On Dean St a small dog was ripped to shreds by 2 pits who the idiot owner rescues from the pound. Ditto GE Plot. Repeated pit bull attacks in Central Park include the death of a border collie. On Ham Hill a lady almost killed on her way to choir practice at church. Please let us know when pathetic Mayor McCheese has his first idea. Keep the implosion going!
