Here we have AGAIN the latest FACTS, the latest TRUTHS about Schenectady and surrounding cities.

The home sale median prices based on sales covering the first SEVEN months of 2014 as compared to the same period last year 2013.

City                 2013       2014     % Change
Albany             163,050    163,500     +  0.3
Cohoes             151,000    169,000     + 11.9
Saratoga           324,900    350,000     +  7.7
Schenectady         94,000     89,994     -  4.3
Troy               134,500    137,650     +  2.3

The NUMBERS of sales for the period covering the first seven months of 2014 as compared to the same period last year 2013 is here.

City          2013          2014          % Change
Albany          263          305          +  16.0
Cohoes           52           47          -   9.6
Saratoga        221          188          -  14.8
Schenectady     150          142          -   5.3
Troy            102          106          +   3.9

Once again, Schenectady is the ONLY city that is seeing a reduction in BOTH home sales AND home sale prices.

More EVIDENCE that those who claim that spending tax money on downtown and redoing Erie Blvd, and putting UNNECESSARY "fancy" lighting, trees, and islands on Erie Blvd, etc is NOT helping the city.

Of course, you notice how those cheerleaders NEVER post on the threads that provide the TRUTHS about the city?  They REFUSE to address these FACTS.

Of course some will say "oh look at Saratoga, falling sales."   Well, people are choosing to buy in Saratoga more than Schenectady.

But the FACT is that homeowners in Saratoga actually get a return on their "investment" of their taxes.  First their taxes are LOWER than Schenectady, AND Saratoga AS WELL AS ALL OTHER CITIES are getting a return on their investment in their home purchase,   They are seeing their home values rise which means they are gaining equity in their homes.   People buying a house in Schenectady do NOT gain equity in their home purchase (well it might take 20 years).

Even in puny little Cohoes the real estate market is better.   Hell, even in Troy which has seen more than normal crime lately  BOTH home sales AND sale prices are increasing

And the WORST is that the mayor is STEALING a whopping HALF MILLION dollars from the city homeowners for his real estate business.   And the FACT is that that half million dollar is a TOTAL WASTE of tax dollars, just like downtown is a total waste of tax dollars.   In 2013 McTHIEF STOLE $300,000 from the taxpayers in an attempt to sell houses.   This year he increases that spending by a WHOPPING 70%.   It is a TOTAL WASTE as it the home sales are FALLING despite STEALING from the taxpayers in an attempt to sell houses.

So, are Schenectady taxpayers getting anything for their money?

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Closed sales in July were down 24 percent in Schenectady County, 20 percent in Saratoga County, 18 percent in Albany County, and 13 percent in
Rensselaer County.
