Sure, this is all we need.

To fan the flames of fear and distrust.

Contrary to current popular belief being shoved down our throats, most people are good, trustworthy people.

People who see suspicious activities should keep an eye on what's going on around themselves.

Organizing the mass hysteria paranoid people into collective groups of George Zimmerman patrols, looking for trouble and confrontations, is a really bad idea that will have severe fallout.

There are already too many people out there looking for reasons to confront and start trouble.

Adding ultra paranoid people, acting under the belief that they have police support because of their good intentions, to the already troublesome and confrontational experience that is all around us is not the solution, it's an escalation.

Escalation has very little chance of being the solution that will get results.

America has become the home of the paranoid and the scared, looking to attack each other in an instant, at an moment.

Like I said, being alert and knowing what's going on around you, is common sense.

Today's torches and pitchforks have been replaced with cell phones and LED flashlights.

Everyone needs to take a deep breath and relax.

I can see it already, someone calling the police to report suspicious people following other suspicious people, who are following another group of people who are following a couple kids with hoodies.

perfectly said L4L.....

I'd like to thank all the politicians and elected leaders and judges and legislators who have been using the 9/11 MENTAL DISEASE as a
mass movement podium puck.....

SHAME SHAME SHAME ON THEM.....

and heeeeeeeeeere's ISIS..............STOCKHOLM SYNDROME, mass anti-depressant use, mass ADD/ADHD drug use......

according to our leaders EVERYONE is Zimmerman(no matter color race creed sex) or ISIS........

WTF

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Isn't that essentially what a Neighborhood Watch is? Once again, I don't think anyone in Rotterdam is advocating vigilantism, but rather awareness. That's my take anyway.

Individuals taking responsibility to be aware of their own surroundings is not at all the same as collective patrols meeting with the police and heading out  to the streets to keep the neighborhoods safe.

Put a $10 camera on every volunteer's home.

Civilian patrols, sheesh.

Give em all brown shirts.

Don't neighborhood watches have to work in conjunction with police?  It's a NARC program.  Last thing I want are wannabe do gooders who get a thrill off of monitoring their neighbors behavior and turning them in.  Next thing you know, people are calling the cops on their neighbors who they suspect of committing a non violent offense.

Don't organize, just talk to your neighbors.   If I thought most of my neighbors believed in "live and let live" and was interested in preventing violence against one another, I might consider it.

Actually I have no idea how they're organized. And I guess my perception of the Neighborhood Watch is far different than yours and the other fellow. I think you're reading way too much into it. And you both agreed on the same thing I'm talking about, awareness and talk to your neighbors. We seem to have different points of view on the issue. Ah well.

Personal awareness and collective groups being managed by the police are light years apart.

Just a matter of time before the neighborhood watch becomes rampant with nepotism, profiling, targeting and retaliation against any who won't support them.

You know, exactly like the police.

Correct, the majority of people who join neighborhood watch organizations want to make sure everyone is living "only"within the social guidelines that they believe in.

It is divisive and an escalation of fear and paranoia.l

You posted the link to the website.

I checked it out and they announced they were preparing to meet with the police.

When it appeared to be simply a collective of like minded people who would be vigilant it appeared to be a good idea.

Collective patrols and police association is absolutely not the same.

All people should be allowed to travel and associate freely.

Without police sanctioned hordes looking for trouble.

I understand why, with your background, that you would be pro-community/police association.

It is far, far away from any sort of Libertarian leaning idea.

I'm more into personal freedoms and liberty, not more police presence.

Yeah I posted the link if anyone was interested that's about all. Pretty innocent stuff. I guess folk's here don't always get that concept.

Not innocent at all.

I am all in favor of civilian individuals banding together for protection if they desire to do so.
