The $11 million project involved the area from I-890 to Liberty Street.  ALL of the infrastructure (water, sewr, etc) was upgraded IN THE PROJECT AREA.  That was a project well worth undertaking.

Getting the $11 million of Federal funding was huge deal for the City-County of Schenectady.  The project is an important first step towards revitalizing the Lower State Street and Erie Boulevard Corridor --- which by the way will have positive benefits on the neighborhoods (Stockade, College Park, North Side) surrounding it.

Your last statement is absolutely false.  The leaders of the City-County of Schenectady are interested in ALL of the community.  

Now I will stand corrected, in your other post, i.e., response to mine, I believed you were speaking of the complete Erie Blvd.   That did actually puzzle me because I knew for a fact that on the other side of the RR bridge there was nothing in the way of watermains done.


But that makes it worse.   The break occurred in the part of Erie Blvd that was NOT redone.  

And that proves even more that the city-county-plex dems are STEALING from the taxpayers.  

Money TOTALLY WASTED on STUPID UNNECESSARY FANCY LIGHTING, TREES, AND ISLANDS and NOT ONE BIT of that was needed.   The money spent on STUPID and UNNECESSARY FANCY LIGHTING should have been used on the ESSENTIAL, VITAL, NECESSARY re-do of the water mains on the other side of the RR bridge.


And AGAIN, all that stupid fancy lighting, trees, and islands has NOT IN ANY WAY helped the city's tax base.   And I DEFY YOU, DV, to provide one teeny weeny bit of EVIDENCE that proves that project has increased the city's tax base!!!!!!!!!!!!     Property values are falling massively.   Or are you blind to the falling home sale prices, the successful certiorari cases, etc?

I was wondering if anyone would eventually ask the question..... isnt it funny that this "leak" is occuring in an area where Galesi's Alco project is water starved?  Anyone find it interesting that all the heavy equipement convieniently working on the Nott Terrrace and Union Street "water leak" was moved down to fix the Nott Street and Erie "leak"?

Tell us DV, all that "fancy lighting"  What has it done for property values in the city?   For home sales?   For home sale prices?   For alleviating the CRUSHING tax burden on homeowners in the city?    What has this "fancy lighting" done to reduce the number of tax foreclosures in the city?   What has it done to the tax BILLS of homeowners?   Is fancy lighting more important than reducing the CRUSHING tax bills on poor homeowners?   Is fancy lighting on Erie more important than the city maintaining the foreclosed houses?    Is fancy lighting more important than reducing taxes in order to prevent foreclosures?

Do you have the GUTS to answer those questions and tell us why the "fancy lighting" was such a necessity?

And now he cannot respond and address whether fancy lighting or watermains are more important to the taxpayers.   He can't respond to what the homeowners in the city are getting in return for their forced investment on fancy lighting on Erie.   He can't address what the fancy lighting is doing for the tax base in the city.

Notice how, when he is confronted with being once again being unable to produce one teeny weeny shred of EVIDENCE of how the wild spending on downtown is helping the city , he merely resorts to the usual of babble saying "same old sh*t, different day," and the lame term "nayboobs."  And of course there's that yawn too.

Gee, you would think that after 4 years posting on here that he could at least find ONE piece of EVIDENCE to that the focus on downtown is providing a positive return to the homeowners and their neighborhoods where the taxpayers actually live (such as an improvement in the tax base, increase in property values, increase in home sales, increase in home sale prices, increase in essential services to the residents, reduction in tax foreclosures, reduction in taxes on the poor homeowners with an increase in taxes on the millionaires who can afford to pay more, etc.   But NOPE, after 4 years, he cannot provide one shred of evidence that proves any return for the homeowners, the taxpayers and the neighborhoods in which they live..
