The Rotterdam fire department is taxpayer funded, yet they appear to have a need to seek cash donations in a boot, and door to door, regularly.
first....the fire dept's weren't in jeopardy of being sold out to the lowest bidder. second....Mohawk came in and said they could do the job AT NO EXPENSE to the taxpayers...NONE!! REMS said they could do the same. they were going to start hard billing. they said they were sound enough to 'make it on their own'..so to say. SO TO SAY....THEY WERE OBVIOUSLY WRONG! |

BUT...for the past year(s) I bet they have been paying for a lawyer to "negotiate" this contract with the town. I am sure it hasn't been cheap and that this process has eaten into any moneys they may have been planning on banking or using for equipment and essentials. Same story all over Rotterdam "bankrupt or disrupt the business of the little guy by any means and he will fold under pressure". |

Now Rotterdam gets to pay for all the employee time and other legal issues over REMS instead of fixing the F'EN water main

if i remember correctly....rems has been saying all along that they didn't need taxpayer's money from the town budget and thatthey were self sufficient since they were doing 'real life billing'. Well that was when mohawk was on the ballot. rems tried to portray themselves as if they were running their organization like mohawk....ya know 'self sufficient'? but again...that's when mohawk was on the ballot.
and let me be clear....i could give a rat's a$$ who is the ambulance provider for ROTTENdam...don't have a horse in the race.....but rems appears to be flip flopping.
don't really matter cause now with socialist health care...mohawk will be running it ALL.....eventually!
The donations that they receive are VOLUNTARILY given. They do NOT come out of taxpayer dollars. REMS is a great community service with a wonderful tradition of helping others and saving lives. You make up your own mind whether you choose to give or not. As for the future of REMS, I have often said that if anything needs to go -- it is the politicians who don't support REMS. Keep REMS as Rotterdam's ambulance provider. It is that simple. |

it's not up to the government to 'prop up' a business....it's either lucrative or not....and as the ACA is moving forward REMS will
become a moot point if it isn't already.....
as ambulance services get more and more government/regulations and oversight the less they become a business and become just
another government cog used as podium pucks much like the police departments after 9/11 and the fear mongering....
so YES, the REMS issue is tit for tat and cronyism....I'm not saying they are a bad company but unfortunately 'the people' have
no choice in who the town gets contract with.....

rems should be ashamed of themselves!!! Taking money from it's residents when in fact if they knew how to run a businesses, they wouldn't have to beg!!! And rems uses the good ole 'fear rhetoric' that women and children are going to be dying in the streets!!! It's all a bunch of bullcrap. And ROTTENdamian's that falls for the scam and give rems money, is proof positive that ROTTENdam is nothing more than an illiterate redneck uneducated town. |

They aren't begging - they are asking. If YOU don't want to give than don't give. Those of us who do give to REMS do so because we like to support an IN COMMUNITY ambulance service, founded by members of our community and staffed by members of our community. It really is NONE of yours or anyone else's business that we support it vocally and financially. |

Again..........I don't have a horse in this race............
HOWEVER.....with consolidation/socialist health insurance on the agenda....Mohawk WILL control them ALL eventually!
They are a well oiled machine, they know how to bill, they are always updating systems, they are always within ALL specs of government regulations....they know what they're doing!!!!
Next time there won't be a 'choice'..........Mohawk will be mandated under the word 'consolidation'.
