Yup my house shook and it looked like it was snowing on Albany St, Lots of crap on Paige St, I think a house blew up. Cops, firefighters, etc are on the seen. I thought someone hit my house with a car, the curtains in my living room blew in and my windows were shut. I pray there is no injuries or worse.

Channel 6 is reporting it's a house on Paige St., possible gas explosion.

Odd collapse, seems the sides were blown out and the roof held up coming straight down, it almost looks as this was a one story house, which is odd for this street. I'm hoping no one was home

Thomas Batcher, 30, smelled gas for a few days coming from the house next door. Then today it exploded.
A vacant house at 310 Paige St. collapsed to the ground in pieces this afternoon from a reported gas leak. It appears no one was hurt.
Schenectady Fire Department responded at 2:54 p.m. working to put out a small fire that was still making its way over the former house's ruins. Batcher lives next door at 314 Paige St.
"I pray to God no one was in that house," he said. "It just blew up. I heard a big pop and the explosion came in an instant."
The house was vacant but as of 3 p.m. on Sunday it was unclear whether anyone was trapped in the destroyed house. Pieces of the roof and door were pushed onto the sidewalk and covered the street.
After getting the fire under control, firemen ordered neighbors and other onlookers to back up from the scene as the smell of gas was carried through the air. People who lived on the street were also asked to evacuate their homes.
"I don't even need to take pictures, it's all in my head," Batcher said. "The explosion destroyed the back end of my van and the side of my house."

Owner owns 319 Paige St, hasn't paid school taxes since 2011 (well, years available)
Guess it will cost the taxpayers less to pay for the city taking care of a house. I'm presuming it was vacant. If so, was it boarded up as I believe city code mandates?

Have to wonder why, if it was a gas explosion, why the gas was still on. Possibly to heat the home in the winter so the pipes would'nt freeze? Who was paying the utility bill for this/other City reclaimed properties? Do they get a multi-unit utility discount being they own so many? Will the utilities be left on at the other City owned homes after this event? If it was not boarded up,with the gas still on,and if there are any deaths/injuries/damage to surrounding homes, now or in the future, is this negligence on the part of the City? Can the City be sued? The demolition companies sure have job security here.
