Mayor McCarthy aka (MCTHIEF) wasted $500,000 on one park in the City of Schenectady. How about using that $500,000 to make upgrades to all the Parks in the City? Oh yea McCarthy only cares about his Goose Hill neighborhood all the other neighborhoods can fu(k off. This Mayor is a corrupt unpopular Mayor in the history of Schenectady. Couldn't we build a new park from scratch with $500,000 instead of a half a$$ improvements to Steinmetz? I guess the contractors made lots of money and McCarthy got his kick back. Yup that's how McCarthy does business around here.

The improvements at Steinmetz Park look great.  They were necessary improvements.  The park doesn't just serve the North End -- growing up, we used that park when we lived on upper Nott Street.

As for the cost - when is the last time you had major work (or even minor work) done around your house? Prices have gone up all over the place.

(Aside - Biggest problem is finding competent, concerned contractors.  The good ones are few and far between.)

Steinmetz is a large park with a lot of both good memories and potential.  I remember swimming there many years ago.  Very fond memories of the impromptu neighborhood football games on the big grassy area near the woods.  Those games would go on for hours and involve dozens of kids of all ages from the area.

all parks should be brought up to date and safe....all pools open.....lifeguards staffed......

back in the day.......we all had the privilege of going to any park we wanted....it was safe and clean......no riff raff around.....

this city has gone to pot ....and there's no stopping it unless the city is rid of all these greedy and senseless politicians...

wow...never thought this day would come....people who have left this city...come back for whatever reason........are utterly ashamed of what they see and

hear..and don't come back.....

tradition and saving the city is a gone deal.......there is nothing that is so promising ...

I'd rather the money be spent on the park than some of the other things they . God knows most of these neighborhoods are t safe for kids to play in anymore. Families need somewhere to let their kids run.  I want the parks maintained.

Tens of millions of dollars was given to business owners in downtown Schenectady, along with property tax exemptions.  And those people won't even step foot in Steimenz Park, no matter how much is spent in it.

Look around you people, your tax money is going into government worker salaries and pensions, and the pockets of politically connected millionaire businesses - while parks go to sh*t and infrastructure decays.

1st - You folks have bitched and complained for the past 5 years claiming that Central Park and other city properties were NOT being  maintained .. then you b**ch and complain when money is spent to maintain -- this just goes to show that you folks get your kicks bitching and complaining and should NOT be taken seriouslyy.

2nd - parks and other city properties need to be maintained .. you folks wouldn't understand the concept of being good stewards and maintaining our communities infrastructure --- which includes parks.

3rd - Memories are great ... and I will keep sharing them.  Also, I look forward to the future of the City-County of Schenectady and think investments in park improvements and, yes, new digital signs on Proctor's are a GOOD THING.  These park improvements are an investment for people today, tomorrow and many years into the future to be able to make great memories.  And a bunch of ignorant whiney-assed misers who hate life and everything about it  (nayboobs) won't be able to take that away,

4th - Parks are an ESSENTIAL part of the quality of life in a community.  They offer places for young and old and everyone in between to get out, have a picnic, take a walk, recreate and enjoy life.  QUALITY OF LIFE IA AN IMPORTANT PRIORITY.

Go to Jerry Burrell at night and tell me if you would take your family there on a picnic

Today's kids do not have anywhere to go....but sit on their bums with their digital toys.....must have.....there is no outdoor activity....

kids are being raised as robots to plan in pre K what they want to be when they grow up.....college...college...and fast food.

they are the kids of the "lost generation" to be kids........no wonder so many have mental and physical problems....

the new age is not a good age......kinda like no play, no communication, no social skills.....

parents today need to stand up and fight for kids' rights......they have none......bring back SAFE parks....you aging folks need to get off the kick that parks

are a waste.....what did you do when you were a kid.....sit in the house and play with your fingers?????>....Parent thank you for speaking for the kids....

Be careful what you wish for when you wish to the government.  When you ask the government for a maintained park, you get a $90k per year parks director, a $60k per year supervisor, and 10 lazy city workers related to some scumbag politician at $45k per year to mow the grass and empty garbage.  There goes that $500k and more.
