If only the supporters knew that the property is tax exempt with no ending date.

If property is tax exempt, the property does not bring tax revenue to the city, the county, or the school district

Maybe that Rush Street Gambling doesn't even know that the property is tax exempt.   But I'm guessing there is also some promised secret back door deals to take tax dollars to build this place for them.

Looks like the unions already have the jobs taken, no surprise there.

Quoted from Henry

But the construction jobs, it doesn't matter where the casino is built, Schenectady or otherwise, they will have work.

Cool - the Council voted to support the casino.  Hopefully, the state will award the casino to Schenectady soon.

So Angelo Mazzone spoke.   Live in the city?   ROFL    He's not paying taxes in the city.   He lives in an almost million dollar house in Saratoga Co

Buicko spoke   Live in the city and pay taxes   ROFL   Not on your life.

Peter Sterns talking now about the construction jobs  - but he does NOT pay taxes in the city

Some Josh guy, doesn't state where he lives.

City resident from Woodlawn, opposed.

And so on, we'll have to check when the minutes come out, can't always figure out how last names are spelled.

It used to be that people who spoke had to state their address.  Of course, the cronies and the out-of-county construction workers are not going to state their address.

Another thing about this thing is this is CLEARLYL NOT going to result in college graduates choosing to stay in Schenectady.   Graduate with a degree in engineering, are you going to take a job as a card dealer?   Graduate with a degree in nursing, are you going to take a job as a hotel maid?   Graduate with a job as a computer specialist, are you going to take a job as a dishwasher in the casino's restaurant?   And the list goes on and on and on and on.

Here's some guy, older guy, business suit, can't remember his name, says he's lives in Schenectady, he says he "saw the tax base go down" and then "Metroplex came....."

This is what is the problem with the people in the city.  This guy really seemed intelligent, but he has absolutely no clue whatsoever about the DRASTIC MASSIVE REDUCTION in the city's tax base in the past 10 years under the dems and metroplex.

This is the problem, people in the city see new buildings downtown and think everything is just so wonderful.   But these people do absolutely no research.  They obviously have never looked at the assessment rolls to see what the tax base is.

People supporting this see the fancy new buildings downtown and do not have a clue that they are paying the taxes for all those buildings AND they don't realize that they have paid huge sums to fix those buildings up while financially struggling homeowners have no money to make essential repairs because they have had to pay for the new buildings.

Most people in the have no clue of the untold wealth of the people like Galesi who is so filthy rich he could buy ever property downtown from his own pocket, demolish everything at his own expense, and totally rebuild at his own expense, so the people have no clue that they are paying for the rich.

Obviously most people who brag about the new buildings how MASSIVELY the home sale prices have fallen, they must be totally blind to all the houses fopr sale, and have not seen the list of thousands of houses in the city that are zombie houses, abandoned houses, houses for sale that are empty, tax foreclosed houses, etc.   And obviously they blind to all the blight and the boarded up houses.

But I'll tell you, we don't live in the city, you couldn't pay me enough to live IN the city (obviously that a true statement regarding DV too), but as a person who whose name IS on the tax rolls, as a person who IS a property taxpayer, I have seen the increase in the county tax bills in the past ten years and any of us who REALLY are taxpayers all know the truth that county taxes are indeed  increasing, contrary to what some non-taxpayers claim.

And there is millionaire Mallozzi who does NOT pay ANY taxes in the city.

There he is supporting the casino.   Yep, the financially struggling people had to fork over their hard earned incomes and bestow a fancy new building for him.  Then the f8inancially struggling homeowners, lower income, have to pay the property taxes for this millionaire for the bakery.

And he rewards Schenectady with what?   Totally avoiding becoming a taxpayer and living in the city.

Casino-indirect poor tax...The city will take advantage of the poor and hopeless by attracting them to a casino in hopes of getting out of tax created poverty they live in.  The poor, who already don't have money for necessities and have no savings will be trading their EBT cards for cash, for one spin on the roulette wheel, hoping for a chance to hit 00 - the jackpot - and move out of poverty.  Working your way out of poverty isn't an option in Schenectady.

Schenectady is now being transformed to the booze and gambling capital of upstate NY.

Just another opportunity for welfare fraud.

Oh how society has devolved.

Now there was just a Zoe Williams that spoke.  She said she moved up here from NYC.

She's talking about how this tax money will help schools, etc.

Uh, she does NOT pay Schenectady's taxes.   She stated her address.  Niskayuna Drive.

Yep, lives on a street with $200,000 and $300,000 homes with taxes substantially less than Schenectady.   Another speaker who has absolutely no clue wha she's talking about.

Oh, she said she worked downtown.  Surely her employers is one of the political cronies of the dems.
