YEP, these so called wonderful jobs, over which DV is almost having an orgasm as if this is the miracle that will save the city, they indeed are nothing more than "telephone operators," i.e., in politically correct terminology, customer services representatives."
It IS all call center jobs like the TU stated!
So reading ability is needed. Why? Because employees will be puppets on a string, robots, reading from a script! The reference to marketing and PR is nothing more than "Good morning, Quirky Company, How may I help you today?"
Caller says "I would like to inquire about B D F H J"
And the lucky job holder who answers the phone says, "As I understand it, you are inquiring about B D F H J ???"
Anyone with just a little intelligence knows that when you call someplace that has a call center, the employees have a script, and when a call comes in, the employee converts the question into a confirmation statement like I indicated.
Next, the call center person puts some words into a search box and starts reading the scripted response until the caller says, "no no, I'm trying to find out about."
Just think about calls you've made with your electronics.
Oh, they don't specify what the hourly pay is.
Jobs? ROFL NONE that will mean people to be self-supporting adults
Naturally there are some "supervising telephone operators"
And yes, there is a Human Resource "Manager" which in this company does NOT require any college degree in human resources or personnel administration. It says online that the HR job needs to know things like payroll and some info about insurance, well COBRA. etc One need not know much about payroll as it's just a data entry operator job these days, plus in the numbers into a program written based on the laws and the results are spit out
Hell, they aren't even having production work done in Schenectady !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My guess is that they have had their call center in NYC which has a much higher cost of living, so they are going to end those jobs and get the cheap labor in Schenectady while getting a million dollar office.
Next post is all the jobs being hired for in Schenectady. So where are all the openings for engineers , designers, computer pros, and other tech, high tech, and professional jobs with good pay with which people could buy a house AND have disposable income with which to spend money????????
NOT IN SCHENECTADY !!!!!!!!!!!!
