* Timing... snow will begin early in the day on Wednesday. The snow will mix with rain... sleet and freezing rain. Mixed precipitation will change back to snow Wednesday evening.
* Snow and sleet accumulations... 7 or more inches possible.
* Ice accumulations... up to to a quarter of an inch... mainly south and east of the capital region.
* Impacts... snow and ice covered roads and low visibility will make for potentially dangerous travel. The combination of a heavy wet snow... some freezing rain and wind could result in isolated to scattered power outages.
* Winds... northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph by Wednesday evening.
* Temperatures... lower to mid 30s Wednesday... falling to the teens late Wednesday night.

Forecasts for a significant snow fall for the immediate Capital Region have now been downgraded to a sloppy mess of rain and snow.
Predictions of 9 or more inches of snow from the approaching storm have now been lowered to 2 to 4 inches. Forecasters says to expect a mostly rain during the day Wednesday.

The Great Blizzard of 1888 (March 11 – March 14, 1888) was one of the most severe recorded blizzards in the history of the United States of America. Snowfalls of 20–60 inches fell in parts of New York and sustained winds of more than 45 miles per hour produced snowdrifts in excess of 50 feet. Railroads were shut down and people were confined to their houses for up to a week.

Wten's forecast is way too optimistic for anyplace south of Saratoga County...All the latest model runs are trending warmer. The north country should still get crushed by this storm, which is fine because at this point in winter, that's where I want the snow to be anyway... But for us in Schenectady and Albany Counties (minus the hills), I be surprised if we ended up with more than 4" from this... Boxy.... G'ville should be in the sweetspot for this.. probably the biggest snowfall this year..
