The International Union will bargain for benefits if the union that you're in is affiliated with said union and make suggestions to your local union as to how they want you to vote, strike or no strike. The only recourse is to vote out local union officials. The big International Unions are the ones who lobby Washington politicians for what laws they want passed and have fancy offices located in DC that the union members pay for.

RIGHT!  The national only makes 'suggestions'... each local votes to strike or not to strike.
The Big International Unions represent hundreds of thousands of workers... I would hope that they
have a big office and a competent staff to assist them in negotiating with management.
They lobby congress, just like their opposition, big business lobbies congress.  And I thank them
for it.

Just where do you think most of your union dues go. When you pay someone to do a job,you usually listen to their advice. The local just keeps enough money to run it's operations and the rest goes to the International Union.

Didn't GE get rid of all it's draftsmen?  Last I heard, they farmed it all out to India.

Not sure...haven't spoken to anyone from there since late 70's.
Likely they did outsource it, and India seems to be the hotspot for
that function.  I know company I work for has a large design contingent
in India...what's worst and saddest part is they have them come to
US and our designers train them for a year before they move back to India.
Only good thing to date is that they are not being used for high level
design, but for revisions, modifications and detailing.

I have no problem paying union dues.  IMO, it's money well spent.

so a union is a PRODUCT.....the government shouldn't be forced to employ a certain 'product' at a certain wage.....

health insurance is a product/service
unions are products/services
a mcdonalds drive thru is a product/service
banking is product/service

etc etc

none bad of their own.....but being forced to think/purchase/act a certain way is NOT freedom...it's controlled chaos that is
controlled by YOUR FELLOW HUMAN.....

corporations are a person
unions are a person

sounds like a devil in a different dress but a devil all the same

What Union is this...I'd like to send them a note to correct their spelling.
"If you're jealous..."
not
"If your jealous..."

PS - No offense but I am not pro-union! I've seen the "bad" that overrides the good.

My experience is just the opposite.  The good outweighs the bad.  Not just for those in the
union, but for the community at large.

The people have spoken, Box says "screw them" and that their votes should be overruled by junta. This is why the progressives are dangerous totalitarians that want to terrorize and imprison all those who disagree. Can't imprison "yet?" Then beat them up like the Brownshirts did. Smash windows and vandalize. The union way. Box would have fit in nicely working for Hitler or Stalin.

In many cases it wasn't the rich who created the problem but the politicians.

Cracker Graham's posts are all the same... He walks in the room, takes a dump, then
leaves.

the rich don't make you have to join a union...unions are good for for statements, but when kept around they become like
a giant cancer tumor with it's own blood supply, however, that blood supply belongs to others that 'built it'.....
