And that settles that!

Interesting how the emphasis is on "widespread"....does that mean there are isolated localized issues?

Of course fracking contamination would be almost exclusively localized.

Trucking it away to another location would be sreading the crap widely.

[I'd like to apologize for not supplying a link.....  http://bigstory.ap.org/article.....nking-water-fracking ]

There is no play on words here, joe. If you re-read it and think about it, the report just states the obvious.

Quoted Text
A draft study issued by the agency found specific instances where poorly constructed drilling wells or improper wastewater management affected drinking water, but said the number of cases was small compared to the large number of wells that use hydraulic fracturing, better known as fracking.

So if you build a shoddy well, it might break and cause a problems?....... ::Mind blown::

So what's the 'small number'......

Quoted Text
An estimated 25,000 to 30,000 new wells were drilled annually from 2011 to 2014, the report said. While fracking took place in at least 25 states, most of the activity occurred in four states: Texas, Colorado, Pennsylvania and North Dakota.

About 6,800 public drinking water sources serving more than 8.6 million people were located within 1 mile of a fracked well, the report said.

The report identified 151 cases from 2006 to 2012 in which fracking fluids or chemicals spilled on or near a drilling well. The spills ranged from 5 gallons to more than 19,000 gallons, with equipment failure the most common cause. Fluids reached surface water in 13 cases and soil in 97 cases, the report said. None of the spills were reported to have reached groundwater.

So only 151 cases in 6 years.

No reports of groundwater contamination. No communities being evacuated. No ecological disasters. No mass deaths.

Just a manufactured attempt at 'mass hysteria' by those on the loony left following their doctrine. Just like 'global warming'.

Think of it this way as well, joe. How many 'standard' oil wells were drilled from the early 1900's until now and in how many instances has groundwater been contaminated that resulted in entire communities being deemed unlivable?

And that settles that!

The report identified several vulnerabilities to drinking water resources, including fracking's
effect on drought-stricken areas; inadequately cased or cemented wells resulting in
below-ground migration of gases and liquids; inadequately treated wastewater discharged
into drinking water resources; and spills of hydraulic fluids and wastewater.

Yes. That does settle that.

Yes. yes Boxy. We have already went over this part and concluded that if you cut corners, and build a crappy product, then bad things can happen.....Just ask General Motors.

Does Fracking Cause Earthquakes?

Hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” (a drilling process that injects millions of gallons of water, sand and
chemicals under high pressure into a well, cracking the rock and to release natural gas and oil) has only
been known to rarely cause earthquakes.

But the disposal of drilling wastewater used in fracking has now been scientifically linked to earthquakes.
The fluids used in fracking (and the wastewater that comes back up the well) is disposed of by injecting
it into disposal wells deep underground. This is generally regarded as the safest, most cost-efficient way
to get rid of it. But in some parts of the country, especially in the Barnett Shale area around
Dallas-Fort Worth, it has also been causing earthquakes. And they’re growing both in number
and strength.

So fracking is safe as long as no humans operate or maintain the wells.

Then the solution for this is obvious...

Restrict / limit the amount of water being disposed of by the direct injection method in sensitive areas.

Or

Pipe the wastewater out of the affected area and dispose of it in a less prone area.

Or

Find an economically sound way to treat wastewater on the surface so it safely can be released back into the environment.

No. Fracking is safe as long as YOU don't operate or maintain the wells.

Yes "restrict or limit"... until the technology catches up with the problems.
In other words... INVENT A SOLUTION BUT UNTIL THEN, STOP FRACKING.

That's the solution to everything.....BAN IT!!!! Well, ban everything that you lefties manufacture as a crisis.

I don't see anyone calling for a ban on cars/trucks/motorcycles because they aren't equipped with alcohol detectors to prevent drunks from driving. I'm sure there are a lot more deaths and property destruction caused by drunk driving in the Dallas-Ft Worth area than what wastewater injection does in relation to earthquakes.

http://www.dallascarcrash.com/drunk-driver/

SO UNTIL ALL CARS ARE EQUIPED WITH ALCHOHOL DETECTORS.......BAN CARS!

See how silly that sounds.

Also, nice to see you left option 2 out.

Wow!  Bucky really needs to take a chill pill!
Now he wants to outlaw cars!
(He seems to get so emotional when he's wrong)

Oh.. option 2... send the polluted water to somewhere else to create earthquakes there instead.

Why not... perfect the process and remove the polluted chemicals BEFORE they release the water
back into the environment?
Why not have safe fracking?

For a person that supports the military which use of depleted uranium and god knows what other chemicals polluting the land and causing generations of birth defects.  This fracking issue really burns your a**.

I support the Military???
IMO, I support the troops and vets, not necessarily the military.

I was against the Bush Oil War in Iraq from the start, even when most Americans got sucked into the
WMD and Saddam/Al Qaeda lies.

I'm not against Fracking... I just want it to be safe and proven safe before we continue.  That includes
the earthquake issue and the SAFE disposal of chemical filled fracking water.
