As if you didn't know:

http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/Media/Slideshow/2014/01/28/10-Worst-States-Taxes-2014

The 10 Worst States for Taxes in 2014

New York

Top State Income Tax Rate: 8.82 percent

Sales tax: 4 percent

Property taxes per capita: $2,280

The Empire State takes the prize as the worst state for taxes, thanks to its high individual tax rate and relatively high sales tax. New York is in a virtual tie with neighboring New Jersey, though the former state gets the bottom spot because its individual income tax suffers from such high rates and narrow bases, according to the Tax Foundation. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced the formation of a tax relief commission to look for ways to transform the state’s onerous tax code.

It's probably also the #1 state for entitlements.

We are among the highest taxed and among the highest earners.  That isn't changing the
subject it's pointing out a related fact.

I'd like to see a ranking based on cost of living...
New York will place no better than 7th and probably somewhere in the middle of the pack...when you add the climate, no wonder we are losing congressional seats.

It's all equilatuive.

Our aunt is an RN down in NYC...she makes double what they make upstate. But the cost of living is higher in NYC than upstate.

Florida's wages are less than NY....but so is their cost of living.

It's all equilatuive.
