Kansas court says sperm donor must pay child support By Chandrika Narayan, CNN updated 2:33 AM EST, Fri January 24, 2014
Court: Sperm donor to pay child support
(CNN) -- A Kansas sperm donor caught in the middle of a child support case says he wanted to help a lesbian couple when he made the donation nearly five years ago. Instead, he may end up paying for his action. A judge ruled that William Marotta must pay child support, even though he says he signed documents waiving his parental rights. Shawnee County District Court Judge Mary Mattivi said on Wednesday that Marotta failed to conform to Kansas law, which says a licensed physician must be involved in an artificial insemination process, court documents show. Sperm donor liable for child support The documents show that the lesbian couple whom Marotta helped conceive a child say they performed the artificial insemination procedure at home...............>>>>...................>>>>....................http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/23/justice/kansas-sperm-donation/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 |

Unbelievable, not sure if I feel sorry for this guy or not. Although if there was a signed agreement by all parties then that contract should of held. |

Kansas doesn't have a problem with the contract, it has a problem with it's implementation. I tend to agree with the ruling based on this logic.....

Had a physician carried out the insemination, that would not be the case, because Marotta would be able to document that he was a sperm donor and not the lover of the girl's mother

The red flags should of been waving when Craigslist and sperm donation went into the same line |

Really? That's your take on it.
The contract is void because they didn't pay a government licensed doctor to squirt the turkey baster?
They forgot that only government authorized physicians may assist with insemination.
Rights no longer exist.
Only government permissions.
You can't make laws that require permission for your right to reproduce. |

In a sane world, that would be the responsibility of the sperm recipient to make sure the bodily fluids they are recieving is clean. In that case, before anybody has sex, they must be tested by a state physician to make sure they meet government regulations. Incredible. |

CICERO WANTS 'GOVERNMENT' INSPECTORS TO INSPECT SPERM!!!
AND
HE WANTS 'GOVERNMENT' REGULATIONS TO ENSURE THE SPERM MEETS 'GOVERNMENT' SPECS!!! |

Read the article again...The state said the donor violated the law by not having the specimen tested. I said(listen closely) IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WOMAN RECIEVING THE SPECIMEN TO HAVE IT TESTED BEFORE PUTTING IT INTO HER BODY. (I know, that's a crazy concept) A woman has a right to their body - except when they decide to put a strangers bodily fluids into it, now it needs to be regulated. Bizzare. |

Corrections? Your corrections abdicated the personal responsibility of the recipient. The recipient entered into a contract without verifying the specimen. Whose fault is that? Man, is everybody a victim of their own ignorance? |
