In time it will be legal, these baby steps are there way of trying to say the drug war wasn't a complete failure. Its just a shame more people will be killed and arrested because of the drug war between now and the time they legalize it.

What's happening in Colorado is not a good thing.
The government is enacting more laws regulating and allowing selected government approved entities to own the entire marketplace.
Marijuana laws need to be completely ignored, not replaced with a government mafia controlled organization to sit alongside the alcohol regulating agencies.
The entire industry needs no government supervision.
Once again they deny free trade in favor of government approved select dealerships and protection from competition.
Why shouldn't everyone be allowed to grow and sell pot?
This is just further government control of all businesses and industries.

Colorado expects to sell $578 million worth of pot this year bringing in $67 million in tax revenue.
That money will be eaten up by the regulators and the new law enforcers.
There will be no net gain.
Uraguay legalized pot. They intend on having licensed government dealers sell pot for $1 per gram.
Paraguay sells pot for 6 cents per gram.
This brings new smuggling illegal imports costs to the table.
Reregulation and reinventing enforcement to give the illusion of legality, will cost more than the original war on pot.

Thank You Gov Cuomo for taking the first steps to legalize this medicine. There is science ready to expand cannabis's active ingredient (THC). Until now, most research grants would shy away from THC because of it's illegal drug implications. Hopefully the full benefits of THC will now be put to use treating a variety of ailments.

I agree with everything you said, on the other side if the price is to high due to taxes it will simply fall back to the black market which I'm sure is still taking place in Colorado right now. I haven't heard anything on the laws regarding hemp or hemp products, that is where jobs and money would really be useful to this economy.

I hope private research is allowed to take part, if left to big drug companies expect outrageous prices and limiting its full potential. Since they're limiting it to 20 hospitals in the state and only recommending it to certain sicknesses and ailments this is far from where we need to be.
