I think you might be much younger than I, exit3, Schenectady used to have the best kept roads around. Now we 'save money' by doing a poor job, but I never see any savings.

truck had no plow and it looked as if the town front loader was there also

I didn't know the town contracted itself our for snow removal/relocation services

must be on the same reasoning as the sand/salt bumble mentions claims

made small correction

perhaps the front loader was picking up snow mounds that were obstructing drivers.....they use to do that...not sure if they still do.

and yes......folks most certainly do have access to the sand/salt. we personally never have. but there are folks we know that do. i'm certainly not making this up....IT'S THE TRUTH....HONEST!!

so our taxes pay for everything the town has, so according to your scenario,
we can use the office copiers and computers if we need them,
we can even borrow police cars and town highway trucks....so I should
be able to take one of the town trucks to plow my driveway...JUST SAYIN'

I have personally never done it.

I'm not sure what the city has arranged right now, I do know that Schenectady, as well as other municipalities, was kind of caught napping because for a while there we were having some almost snowless winters, weren't we? Older vehicles weren't replaced, etc. and employees who knew the job best may have retired. We have been under-budgeting in recent years, because we got used to not having to spend as much, apparently. I do see some city owned heavy equipment out, as well as some private trucks. The main thing here, is not getting the plows out on a timely basis, not having enough people who know how to plow, no coordination, and nobody has resolved whatever the heck the problem is between those responsible for the ticketing/towing and those responsible for the plowing. It has been going on since the 1990's, I think we've had time enough to fix it. I'm not the only one who's noticed the problem, I've seen letters to the paper on the topic, and I think it is personal or political, but I don't know. Gee, I said the main thing, but it is pretty much everything, somebody has to oversee the whole thing and make sure it gets done. That person would be Gary McCarthy, in my view. It is his ultimate responsibility, and no excuses are good enough.
