We spent most of yesterday at Gore Mt.
-2 degrees at the lodge and plenty of snow!

I've noticed less and less snowboarders and more people (especially kids) on these skis
working out at the terrain park.

IMO, these skis are more versatile than boards and will eventually take their place for
recreational snowboarders.

We were watching these guys play on the terrine park at Gore yesterday:

I've got pretty weak ankles... actually, my doc says my tendons are too loose and it sets myself up for easy turning of the ankle and sprains..
Surgery could help, but I've passed on it so far..I'd love to ski and ice skate, but every time I've tried my condition bites me

for most people it's knees, a bad ankle is even worse.

Who can afford this stuff?  Obviously the guy that cares so much about the poor.  I'm gonna go down to Schenectady DSS and see what they prefer, skis or boards.

I'm surprised box ski's.  There is not much diversity in the sport.  Maybe that's what attracts him.

Box plays the civil rights activist on the Internet during the week, then goes up into the mountains to hang out with the middle class and rich white people.

Actually I almost never ski weekends or holidays.  Almost all my skiing is done midweek with the
rest of the retired oldies!
The day skiing cost me $33.  Not exactly a Rich Man's sport!
BTW, Gore Mt has an early season discount for those who bring canned goods for the local
food pantry!   Ski and help the poor at the same time!

As far as "diversity", skiing, like golf, tennis and swimming, used to be a 'white sport'.
Ask Tiger Woods if that stereotype is changing!

$33 is expensive....

so people get what they want when they can.....no matter how poor...it's about wanting it....

I spend $$ on things today that I NEVER would have when I was younger because of the cost/income ratio....

and some things I don't spend $$ on even though other 'rich' people do because I don't like it...I get what I want based on what
I save $$ for or want to based on my priorities.....

Steak or hotdogs.....choice...for a long time it was hotdogs and pasta all the time...I worked my way out of that in this cast
system....had I invested in  my own land/sweat I would have had steak all the time and much sooner.....nope, instead I listened
to the status quo...shame on me....what a waste of time I'll never get back...TIME TO MOVE ON!!!

The pictures are beautiful, but I'm getting cold just looking at them.
What makes those skis different?

There are hundreds of ski types for different applications.  I'm a recreational skier and I'm afraid I'm too
old to hit the terrain parks.  The following video features ski blades which are shorter and made for tricks,
jumps and fun.  They are much shorter and have tips at both ends to help with landings and backwards skiing.
Looks like fun!

I think so too but considering a day of skiing is a bigger bang for the buck compared to $10 for a 1.5 hr movie that most times turns out to be Cr@p. I'll take the day spent in the fresh air with the kids chasing away the winter blues.

I agree!  Skiing midweek and finding special discounts can save $$$ for a day skiing.
Gore Mt's early skiing offers a $20 discount on early skiing prices if you donate two canned goods to
their food bank fund drive.

Used skis, boots & clothing are available at ski areas and local ski dealers like Alpin Haus.
Ski clubs offer discounts and ski with transportation for club members.

For me, skiing is the closest thing to flying with out a machine!
