Not sure why you pose this question. Schenectady has thousands of children who are suffering from food insecurity and are hungry. They rely on services. Kids shouldn't be at risk. People should be able to access nutritious food for their families. Some folks are struggling for self-sufficiency but need help until they arrive at that point. And YES the government SHOULD help these people. Are you advocating for or against? |

Mohonasen has 123 families living below poverty level. I know folks who go to st. gabriels and they are giving gifts and money cards to those families.
One person I talked to said that they picked a 'requester/card/ticket' (no names are given). it was a little boy who asked for pj's and socks......NO TOYS! |

123? That's all? There are probably many more who are within 200% of the poverty line. Mohansen has WORKING poor. Hope that person buys the kid pjs and socks and wraps them up in toy truck! |

I think the main reason for the food banks is that people who are not regular consumers of social services can find themselves without enough cash for groceries without warning, at times. There are people who freeload and stress them out, but I donate anyway, because I do want to make sure nobody truly down on her luck goes without groceries. senders, don't question the idea that some people don't have to take care of their own kids, ever. You will be burned at the stake, for heresy. |

my point is that
those who control the food supply (and subsidize it) control the masses those who control the fiat (money trade) system control the masses those who regulate and legislate tax codes control the masses
very very very poor leadership and poor planning on our part.....
there is no reason why people shouldn't have a piece of land with shelter to supply themselves sustenance and for bartering....
those who control the land control the masses those who control the banks control the masses
moving to 'the city/burbia' looking for work under the man DOES NOT mean freedom......
is it easier? maybe....
I'm just posing questions/views/whys/hows etc etc....just conversation instead of blaming human to human or neighbor to neighbor..... |

It's kind of a societal trust issue, I guess. Sort of a social compact that has broken down. I misunderstood your question. I think that when we moved away from an agriculture based economy to industry, there wasn't that much thought given to what would happen down the road. People who moved into the tenement housing to go to work in early factories had the street markets full of fresh food hauled in from the country, they probably enjoyed not having to get their hands dirty. Even today, who wants to come home from the office and put in the hours hoeing and weeding? The system of working indoors and buying your food from someone else worked great, until jobs stopped paying enough to buy food, and there weren't enough good paying jobs togo around. If I wanted to grow enough food in my yard to sustain my family, I would have to get rid of my neighbors' trees, as well as my own. |

and politicians shouldn't just get a pass because they say "we have created jobs." "the jobs are coming" blah blah blah...
having a job DOES NOT equate to freedom....I know a lot of folks with jobs who have to show up at the subsidy house and have their chain link added to help them make it.....NOT FREEDOM..... |

When families and churches fail to help the 'legally less fortunate'...........the government has no other option but to step in to help these folks. |

they will decide by income...if any. or if anyone has lost their job. disabilities/illness
Not all folks 'in need' are drug dealing scumbags.
Eg...someone loses their job. goes to their church, their family, government unemployment, government welfare. Where do you think they will be guaranteed help? |

that's what I'm saying....since the ONLY way to feed yourself is through working for the man...so when the politicians tout jobs jobs jobs they never talk about the value of the jobs or how far the dollar will go...$10/hour is USELESS.... $15/HOUR is WORRY..... |

the government has made us POOR!! They make up for it with government programs.
HOWEVER....folks have been brainwashed into believing that they too NEED flat screen TV's, smart phones, computers etc!
when in all reality it boils down to basics....food, shelter, clothing. |

if the government can subsidize the food/shelter/heat then the companies gain more access to 'disposable poor income'....
