Who in their right mind would do this on purpose???

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

No thanks, here is a little compilation of videos from black Friday. The video at 2:57 looks like something out of the Walking Dead

Please....enough with the false pontificating...
The "Holiday" season has been like this for 30 years or more... The Christmas holiday is that in name only.
Those who truly celebrate Christmas for what it is have, and will continue to do so.
And rest will continue to buy, buy, buy ....and prop up the economy, as they have been for years....and what's wrong with that?
What IS wrong is trying to tie the shopping season to some sort of Christian Hypocrisy... that dog won't hunt.

If we're going to celebrate the "Birth Of Christ", then... why not celebrate it when
Christ was actually born?  Most likely in Spring or Summer, but not on Dec 25th and not in Winter.

Christmas, Santa, Elves, and reindeer are all a scam propagated by Business to rip off the
consumer.
When you consider that there are many otherwise responsible parents who go into debt for
Christmas, and it takes most of the year to pay off that debt.  As the Black Friday pics show,
there is nothing of 'Christian Values' associated with Christmas Shopping!

OMG... such low hanging fruit...
Middle eastern winters are about the equivalent of Northern Georgia
Christmas was celebrated by western Christians on December 25th starting in 336 AD! ..I know, those evil corporations had something to do with it.
For a while Eastern churches continued to hold to the original Jan 6th date...either way, most historians using known birth months as a reference (i.e. John the Baptist), estimate Jesus birth in September...not winter, but certainly not spring or summer.

How is business ripping off the consumer when it pertains to Holiday shopping? The prices are usually lower this time of year
How is business making people go into debt? Did they steal their identity? Or is it just another attempt to shirk personal responsibility?
In the years that we bought big for the kids, I never had a year were we went into a February credit card bill to pay off Xmas debt...because we had a budget based on income..not what our kids circled in the toy fliers...

If you want a true villain to blame for convincing people to buy what they can't pay for, look no further than the US gov't.

There is a perfectly good reason why Christian Churches opted for Dec 25 as Christ's birth...
The early church was looking for converts and if they made the Christian festivals coincide
with pagan festivals, new recruits were much easier to get.

Winter Solstice... Christmas is no coincidence.

The WalMart mentality didn't CAUSE Christmas to be on Dec 25, they just exploited a religious
holiday for their own greed.

For most in America, the 'true meaning of Christmas is... "WHAT DID I GET FOR CHRISTMAS!"

This was happening long before Sam Walton was born...I know you want to tie everything from Fukashima to Climate Change to Walmart, but c'mon..
The move to the materialistic side of Christmas should thrill you since you're an atheist and you want religion out of gov't and the public domain...all that's left is renaming the Xmas Holiday to something non-denominational non-religious.

If you want to talk about Greed... you have to go way beyond retailers... try popular culture...sports and entertainment stars are what most people look up to...and its not what they are.. it's what they earn and what they have...problem is, baiters won't get very far with the public slamming Beyonce and Jennifer Aniston.... it's much easier to get the public on your side slamming the faceless entities.
