For the board "Fearful"

Written by Buffalo Springfield guitarist Stephen Stills in 1966.
The FEAR then has changed parties, but it's the same ole hype.
The 'fearful' are easily manipulated.

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind

I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side

It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

"Fear of Govt" is a tool used to further a political agenda.  The 'fearful' will buy into the fear, no matter
how wild or unbelieveable (conspiracy theories) it may be, in a weak attempt to control that fear.

If you harnessed the fear on this board and could turn it into electricity, we could power the country
forever!

philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

The government governs through fear.  They fear the the people they govern by ginning up fear and promising protection.  Whether its mandatory Heath insurance(or you will die), gun background checks(or you will die), terror lockdown drills in elementary schools(or your kids will die).  It is always fear, that's what laws are, threats of punishment to change behavior.  More and more people are not fearing the state created boogie men.

Cisero's view of Government.  No wonder he's so screwed up!

That's not how I see our govt. Or how most Americans see it.  This view may be why you and the board
haters are so out of touch with the rest of America.
You'd make a good Ron Paul Groupie.

Maybe I was wrong.  Re reading Cicero's post, boiling over with fear, and those who agree with Cissy's
life of Fear, maybe the ones in Govt who are promoting this FEAR... TeaBaggers crying that the sky
is falling... maybe Cicero's govt does rule with fear.  No wonder he's so 'fearful' of what he hears coming
from HIS govt.
Obama is a Kenyan.
Obama is a Muslim.
Obama hates America.
Obama wants to take away your guns.

Cissy didn't hear that "Fear Mongering" coming from the Left side of his govt, he heard it from the Right!

Um, Box, I think you are easily manipulated, and I also think you have misinterpreted the song's rather ambiguous lyrics.

Boxy has been trying to get a gig on MSNBC. Misrepresentation is the norm for him.

Like any song, you can interpret it's meaning as you see fit.

Quoted Text
"For What It's Worth" is a song written by Stephen Stills. It was performed by Buffalo
Springfield, recorded on December 5, 1966, and released as a single in January 1967

Quoted Text
The song was inspired by an event at the dawn of the psychedelic era in November
1966, the year during which Buffalo Springfield started playing as the house band at the
Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles.  According to the Los Angeles Times,
[4] annoyed residents and business owners in the district had encouraged the passage of
strict (10:00 p.m.) curfew and loitering laws to reduce the traffic congestion resulting
from crowds of young club patrons. This was subsequently perceived by young, local rock
and roll music fans as an infringement on their civil rights, and on Saturday, November
12, 1966, fliers were distributed along the Strip inviting people to demonstrate later that day.

Hours before the protest one of L.A's rock 'n' roll radio stations announced there would be
a rally at Pandora's Box, a club at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Crescent Heights,
and cautioned people to tread carefully. The Times reported that as many as 1,000
youthful demonstrators, including such celebrities as Jack Nicholson and Peter Fonda
(who was afterward handcuffed by police), erupted in protest against the perceived
repressive enforcement of these recently invoked curfew laws.

Though often mistaken for an anti-war song, it was this first of the
"Sunset Strip riots" which inspired then Buffalo Springfield band member
Stephen Stills to write "For What It’s Worth", recorded about three weeks
after on December 5, 1966.

A song for the "BRAVE", our founders didn't fight so the government could tell us what we could eat, drink, sell, or consume. They didn't fight just to be monitored by the government afterwards, they fought to be free. As you see some want us to ignore the realities and abuses of our government and to not stand up against it. They use the terms terrorist or right wing extremist or nut cases so that you won't look further into what they're saying, they want you to ignore those who are trying to show others these abuses.

Funny post Henry!!!   A real knee slapper!

Take this phrase, it's as far as I got before laughing out loud:
our founders didn't fight so the government could tell us what we could eat, drink, sell, or consume.

OUR FOUNDING FATHERS INSTITUTED THE BLUE LAWS OF MASSACHUSETTS.
THEY DID TELL US WHAT WE COULD EAT OR DRINK OR SELL OR CONSUME.

Blue Laws were instituted here at the time of the Pilgrims and continued until modern times.

Really... read a history book before you post!  >

Quoted Text
Blue laws in the United States vary by state.
Many states still prohibit selling alcohol for on and off-premise sales in one form or
another on Sundays at some restricted time, under the rationale that people should
be in church on Sunday morning, or at least not drinking.

Another feature of blue laws restricts the purchase of particular items on Sundays
which is an unusual feature in modern American culture. Some of these laws still
restrict the ability to buy cars, groceries, office supplies and housewares among
other things. Though most of these laws have been relaxed or repealed in most
states, they are still strictly enforced in some other states.

Those are your words Henry, not mine.  The DID establish laws that DID TELL THEM WHAT THEY
COULD EAT, DRINK, SELL OR CONSUME!

No Henry,  YOU ARE WRONG.  When they originated (in the time of our 'founding fathers') and
since then, blue laws were either STATE OR LOCAL LAWS.

it's the hippy mantra.....that's funny......it's a 'progressive' love fest song.....

irrational fears:

if you don't get the flu shot you could die
if you don't go to college you will end up just like the rest
if you don't wear a seat belt you could get a ticket/or die
if you die your loved ones might be left with nothing
if you let your child listen to rock and roll they will become criminals
if you have sex before marriage you are ruined
if you get pregnant out of wedlock you have a bastard
if you have an abortion you go to hell
if you don't drink ensure you won't be healthy
if you don't take viagra your sig other will leave you
if you don't have a yearly mammogram you could die of breast cancer
if you don't have a yearly colonoscopy you could die of colon cancer

the list is endless........

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
