square heater floor grates/registers. I have the old cast iron/metal ones but they are starting to rust and are a pain in the neck to clean.
Searched lowes, home depot etc and they only
carry narrow ones. |

thanks GB wow didn't realize how expensive they are ! If for some reason I can't find them, any ideas on what type of paint to redo my old ones lol.

Oh come on dude...Really? None of this is hard. Step 1..... Remove grate Step 2..... Clean grate (Soap, water and a good scrub brush and/or sponge) Step 3..... Remove any rust with sandpaper and/or CLR remover Step 4..... Make sure surface is dry Step 5..... Go get some spray paint (hint: buy paint made for metal surfaces) Step 6..... Apply paint to grate according to the directions on the can. Step 7..... Wait for paint to completely dry. Step 8..... Reinstall grate. |

Not a dude L4L- thanks, that's what I was concerned about regarding paint, never thought of sandblasting thanks Will also call two places mentioned earlier Burch and H for H and see if they have any. |

Nope. You don't want to breathe paint cooking.
Just take them to any body or welding shop. They will sandblast them to look like new for a few bucks.
What I used to do when refurbishing stage lighting, is let the paint dry most, then put it in the oven at 200 (no higher) degrees for a couple of hours, turn the oven off, and pull them out in about an hour. It burns off all the fluorocarbons, and bakes on the finish, making it more durable. |

Sandblast is a good way. Use the paint that is good for gas grills. Check on line for antique hardware shops or salvage shops. |
