New York has a lot of unintended pregnancies only in the sense that some stupid guy does not want his girlfriend to get pregnant. Mental intentions don't really count when they don't match your actions. It's kind of like the guy who drives drunk but didn't intend to have an accident, or the guy who shoots a gun on a crowded street but didn't mean to hit a baby. I actually heard that used in a court of law, a guy claimed he wasn't guilty of recklessly firing a weapon into a crowd of people, because he was intending to hit a particular person.

Lots of causes... Lack of education, lack of birth control, lack of self control, rape, incest, sexual
abuse, carelessness, lack of funds to purchase birth control... etc.

For those on the board who are against abortion, this would seem to be a good place to make a
stand.  If unintended pregnancies lead to increased abortion, it would seem to be in your interest
to help with programs that deal with:  "Lack of education, lack of birth control, lack of self control,
rape, incest, sexual abuse, carelessness, lack of funds to purchase birth control..."
  

As if we do not have programs in Schenectady. I will say that all this Republican ranting about contraceptives just gives people an excuse for their personal sloppiness.

WHO CARES ABOUT ABORTION OR IF A PERSON OPTS FOR ONE.....it's none of our business......that conversation remains in that
persons heart mind soul.....everyone AGAINST abortion IS NOT GOD......

An acquaintance of my wife called to get my wife's opinion on a child support issue.

She has a 15 year old daughter that she gets child support for.

She let an 18 year old boy move in and share her bedroom.

Now the 15 year old is pregnant and the mom is hoping the child support for her
granddaughter will come to her because the babies mom is still  a minor.

First the 18 year old has no income.

Second, the 18 year old should be paying rent too.

Third the mom should be charged with facilitating sexual abuse of a minor.

I'm sure the fight over the child support will end up with her trailer being tipped over.

Rent is the decision of the property owner.

I'm not sure she was facilitating sexual abuse unless she was fully aware they were having a physical relationship prior to allowing them to stay in the same room.  If a minor can have an abortion without parental consent, then I assume they can have sex without parental consent.  In either case, the mother and father should be responsible for the care of both the daughter and grandchild if both are the daughter's legal guardians.  If the father has no parental rights, I don't know if he can be financially responsible to support the grandchild.  

The sexual abuse is when you allow a legal adult into a minor's bedroom.
I know of a woman who faced a similar situation, but she did not allow the male in question into her home, these were younger kids the same age, and she was not looking for any money from the very minor "father", she was going to help her daughter raise the grandchild in her home, but government stepped in and saved the day by paying for the girl to move out of her mother's house and in with dad. It was actually a big surprise to those that came up with these programs, that teens might get pregnant intentionally in order to have their own place, free from parental control.

Now remember, the most unintended pregnancies (whatever that means) happens mostly in large urban areas and the south.
