My proof??? I don't have proof. I offered a consumer report review on supermarkets who found "Walmart Supercenters" SUCK! How did they put it: a poor review on food quality, a mediocre score on cleanliness If food quality and cleanliness are unimportant to you... then keep on shopping Walmart. Bon appetite!
Maybe its something you need to try before bashing it, how many movies have you watched that got 5 stars and it was horrible by your standards, then you watch a movie that didn't even make it to theatres and it was good.

Speaking of steaks try this stuff out next time to make one, make sure you buy a decent steak

yup same company but different product, give it a try. I usually hated all of McCormick's rubs but the steak rub was killer.

Of course you don't...it's just your hatred for anything corporate and too "big"...and that's enough for you. The only place food quality comes into play is fresh produce and meat products..anything else is just BS... A box of corn flakes at walmart is NO different than your box of corn flakes at our local co-op.
As far as cleanliness, the raters shouldn't be worried about the aisles, they should be worried about back area of the markets. People make assumptions where they shouldn't... I worked at a hospital kitchen during my high school years..you would think a hospital would demand absolute cleanliness everywhere...they don't....I used to play "rat bowling" when taking out the trash from the dietary department.... If you got to see what happens to food..even at a coop, most of us would convert our lawns into gardens.

I've never had any luck with 'frozen steak'. I would find a great price on t-bone or porterhouse and buy a few extra, but after freezing, they didn't taste the same.
I found that if you marinate the steaks in A1 Chicago Steakhouse marinade, then freeze them in a freezer bag covered with the marinade, the steaks thaw and cook just as well as fresh.
I haven't tried other marinades but this one works great!

IMO, a box of corn flakes from Walmart MAY be as good as a box from a co-op... but I wasn't discussing corn flakes was I.

Yeah, there's a chance Walmart will bully Kelloggs into producing a "cheap" version of corn flakes just for them... wow, just wow...
What you were discussing shopping at walmart for items other than Laundry detergent and dog food...You brought up meat and produce, but left the other food items, which is actually a majority of a persons food bill, open for interpretation...a backhanded slap at walmart without warrant...typical...

The individual products aside, do you really want to reward a company who offers "poor quality" and "poor cleanliness" with your shopping dollars? Do you want to reward mediocrity? Then go ahead. I won't.

I buy my meat from a local shop, and have for years, so the big chains don't get my money there. When produce is in season, I buy it locally, when out of season, I buy it from a chain market. As far as the other items, I buy them from the chain market that is closest to me, which Walmart isn't... But, I have no illusions that my chain market is exponentially better than Walmart.

I will try to make this short:
You are under the assumption that what you buy at Walmart is the same as what you buy elsewhere, and often it is the same. BUT Walmart will squeeze it's producers to offer a cheaper product. An example of how it works:
MY bro in law bought a Coleman air mattress from Walmart. Should be the same as any where else, right? Coleman is Coleman... no difference right???
He brought it home and tried the air pump that was enclosed in the package. The pump fit poorly and didn't work well. He called Coleman and was transfered to customer services who told him... THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. The problem was that WALMART insisted that to get their business Coleman must include a smaller pump in their product so they could offer it at a LOWER PRICE. The pump was never designed to be used on their larger products. He told my bro in law he could either return the product and buy the same mattress anywhere else, Kmart, Target or any other store would have the correct pump for this mattress... or to buy the correct pump at Walmart and return the pump to Coleman for a partial refund.
Walmart SUCKS. No way around it!

Walmart buys their produce from the same place as everybody else. They get a better price from the grower by guaranteeing volume. A bag of apples with the Price Chopper label likely comes from the same grower and packing facility as Walmart. The only difference is the label on the bag. If the apple meets US#1 determined by the Dept of Ag, the apple has the same tolerance of defects. It's all marketing.

So according to Cicero, how that produce is handled makes no difference. What temperature the produce is stored has no effect on the product. The cleanliness of the store is irrelevant.
Consumer reports found a difference between supermarkets and posted those differences.
"Quality" and "cleanliness" was substandard at Walmart. If 'quality' and 'cleanliness' are unimportant to you, then you will get your money's worth at Walmart.

I'm sure walmart does stuff like that..but newsflash, so do most of the big box retailers... Take Home Depot for example... Pergo floor is Pergo floor, right? A friend of mine bought his floor from Home depot, while I bought mine from a local flooring supply shop... Same type of pattern on both, both listed as "premium grade"..his cost a lot less than mine.. Guess what? His floor is shot after 10 years and mine is still looking great..even with a ten year golden retriever running though the house...As far as Home depot, I've heard the same story with faucets, lighting fixtures, even wood... You could say the same for sears and their POS power tools that carry the former great "craftsman" name
Bottom line, if you want TRUE quality, you're not likely to find it at a big box or chain retailer...but you will pay for it....Big retailers make their money on volume and low prices..Walmart may be the biggest, but they're certainly NOT the only passenger on the train,

You've help make my point... there are differences between stores. Walmart Sucks! Buy what you need elsewhere.
