Do you buy quality food, or do you buy cheap food. What is your priority? Price or quality?
I have never understood anyone shopping at Walmart Supercenters for food. Dog food maybe or things like laundry detergent, but to buy fresh produce or meat??? No way. Unless you are starving and have no choice... why would anyone shop at Walmart for food?

They must be doing something right I see people shopping there all the time and their prices are competitive.

I hae one near my home and produce is fresh, but meat products is not something I would buy from them... actually, I don't buy meat products from Price Chopper or others...I go to small family owned butcher shops

Unless you buy from a local meat shop, you have NO idea where the meat you buy is coming from.. that goes for Hannaford and price chopper as well as Walmart, Nothing has been produced that says meat from Walmart is inferior to meat from other chain markets....It's the walmart stigma that turns most people off , instead of the facts.

.compared to Price Chop.. their prices are "CHOPPED" low enough.....Buy 1 ...get 2...or reversed .....not worth it....they price other things UP UP UP...
and people fall for gimmicks...and about the gas.....will pass on that...

Their meat isn't to bad but like anyplace if you want the best cuts or marbling you are going to pay higher prices.

Do you really want the cheapest possible chicken? The chicken that no restaurant would buy because of quality issues? Do you want a factory produced tomato, or a chemically induced quality? Do you want GOOD FOOD, or do you just want 'food'?
We all have to make choices when we shop. We at one time could have bought a YUGO if price were the only factor in car purchases. There are other choices than Walmart "always the lowest quality... always" policy.
Some local co-ops offer free range beef, bison, elk etc. Cows were designed to eat grass, not grain. Grass fed is a very different product than feed-lot grain fed. I seldom buy "ground beef" and when I do I try to buy grass fed. Ground bison is a much better product than anything that you can buy at Walmart. If you look at a package of local ground bison it will be red, like a raw steak. If you look at supermarket ground beef, it's pink. The more fat the pinker. I tried a dozen organic free range eggs a few years back, at $3.75 a dozen. The quality was so much better that I've not bought another supermarket egg since.
There are options out there if you look for them. The more people who support local farmers and "quality instead of quantity" farm products, the more these farmers will prosper and grow.

Not all their products are bad quality, they sell higher quality cuts of meat but you will have to expect higher prices, that applies for any market or local butcher. Some foods I will not buy at Walmarts because their is better quality items at other places and it is worth spending more to get them, other foods not so much.

Box. where's your proof on produce and meat @ walmart specifically? I'm assuming that you buy your beef at a local independent shop because the big chain markets buy the same way walmart does..
And as far as meat color, the redness can come from dyes but more likely, an exposure to oxygen...that is what turns meat red..it is NO indication of the freshness.

My proof??? I don't have proof. I offered a consumer report review on supermarkets who found "Walmart Supercenters" SUCK! How did they put it: a poor review on food quality, a mediocre score on cleanliness If food quality and cleanliness are unimportant to you... then keep on shopping Walmart. Bon appetite!

I can't stand Bison...it's just too gamey for me. I tried it from two different butchers and had the same opinion. To eat Bison, I would have to do the same thing I do to venecin...mix it with ground beef. With ground beef, you need an amount of fat for some flavor...to me, 95/5 meat/fat content ground beef is just as undesirable as the 75/25 stuff that turns your grill into an inferno.
