Let's put aside all arguments for a few and just assume that the we are going to hit Syria.

With that let's ask the most basic of questions

What will be the objective?

Is Assad the target?

If we do bomb, wouldn't we be helping out sworn enemies of the U.S?

It's been suggested the objective would be to limit or deter the use of Chemical Weapons.
A regime change is not part of that goal.

To kill Arabs?  A body count?  Buy more weapons?  Appease the military industrial complex?  Scare Christians? Need a good storyline for the next Call of Duty video game before Christmas?

Where is Saudi Arabia?  They are armed with US weapons.  Syria is their neighbor, why aren't they the first to step in?  You would think as a regional power they would be the FIRST to intervene when seeing their fellow Arab Muslims get gassed. Why would the US and the UK be the first to intervene?  Ohhhh, maybe the petrol dollar agreement has something to do with it.

Iran warns US of ‘Zionist trap’ in Syria

Wed Aug 28, 2013 6:1AM GMT

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says the United States will fall into a trap laid in Syria by the Zionists, if Washington launches a military strike on the Arab country.

“The Syria crisis is a trap set by Zionist pressure groups for this country (the United States),” said Zarif in a Tuesday TV interview.

If the White House gets involved in a war on Syria, said Zarif, US President Barack Obama will undoubtedly leave a very unpleasant memory of his presidency in peoples’ minds.

The top Iranian diplomat argued that any adventurism in Syria will ignite tension in the entire Middle East, adding, “If the crisis flares up, it cannot be confined to one region.”

On August 21, the militants operating inside Syria and the foreign-backed Syrian opposition claimed that 1,300 people had been killed in a government chemical attack on militant strongholds in the Damascus suburbs of Ain Tarma, Zamalka and Jobar.

A number of Western countries, including the US, France, and the UK, were quick to adopt the rhetoric of war against Syria despite the fact that Damascus categorically rejected the baseless claim, and announced later that the chemical attack had actually been carried out by the militants themselves as a false flag operation.

Since Tuesday, speculations have become stronger about the possibility of a military attack on Syria. Media outlets have been reporting US plans for likely surgical attacks, which would be in the form of “cruise-missile strikes,” and “could rely on four US destroyers in the Mediterranean [Sea].” The plan, however, seems to be awaiting US President Barack Obama’s go-ahead.

Iran, Russia and China, among other countries, have warned against foreign military intervention in Syria, which has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011.

A very large number of the militants operating inside Syria are reportedly foreign nationals.

The United Nations says more than 100,000 people have been killed and many more displaced since the outbreak of the violence.

All I know is that an attack by any the imperialists will show whether Syria has true friends and allies or just friends that pay lip service. That's all.

Today the Zionists use the US to take over Syria. Tomorrow they come after everyone else.Russia should warn the US that Syria has the right to defend itself and not to be surprised when they bloody their nose.I feel sorry for the first US pilot over border as his death will be the reason the US uses to launch World War III.Our prayers are with the Syrian people.

Obama was given the Nobel peace prize under a false pretext. If he initiates a strike on Syria under such a feeble excuse he should most certainly be stripped of it!!!

Who cares about the Zionist award of the Nobel prize? If Obama kills people then that scumbag should be tried for war crimes! How is it that the Bush family with millions of innocent dead people's blood on their hands are still able to roam free? And what about that satanic Blair still not [tried]? The world has had enough of these ...period!

The Syrian situation has some similiarities with the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon. When Israel faced unexpected stiff resistance from the Lebanese, it dragged the U S A into Lebanon. Now as Israel finds the Syrian war unwinnable, it wants U S missile strikes against Syria. It is cleverly putting France and U K into the forefront only to pressurise the U S into action. As every action with zero casualties to U S forces is hailed inside U S, Israel is pressing for U S missile strikes against Syria to help the so called Syrian rebels. Clearly Israel and the west want to ensure an Al Qaeda victory in Syria and Syrian civil war is an Israeli proxy war against Syria.

All we will be doing is choosing sides in a civil war.

I wonder if the US states chose to rebel again, if the world police would help the insurgents?

This is clearly not a US matter.

Other than the US wants to franchise Chevrolets and KFC's throughout Syria.

depending on his response.

And what should his response be, you have yet to make that clear, I'm guessing you will wait for Obama to act and say yes he did the right thing no matter what he does.

Questions that haven't been answered, however judging that Obama and co have funded the rebels any strike would be against Assad, even though there is more proof that it was the FSA who released the chemicals. If we do bomb what exactly do we bomb? And yes Obama will be helping our enemies which so many of our soldiers lost their lives fighting against, he is basically pissing on their graves. The rebels have been known to massacre Christians and execute anyone who might have any loyalty to Assad, that includes women and children. They post propaganda videos showing beheadings, murders, and yes even chemical weapons tests.

Another question they will not answer is why would Assad use chemical weapons when he is winning, they know damn well what the response would be if caught using them. The only one who has anything to gain from a chemical weapon attack is the rebels because they to know what the response will be. If you listen to our president he would like you to believe this is the first time chemicals were used during this war, it is not, the FSA were caught using them and Obama turned a blind eye when he learned who released them. As I said before anyone who paid attention to this war knows this administration is trying to sell a bullsh1t argument.

Again.  I am waiting to see what his response is before I can say if I approve or not.  You've already
condemned any response no matter how useless or how effective.

My guess so far it will be a strike on stockpiles of chem weapons.  I doubt that will be a very effective
deterrence.
