This kind of thing is becoming not-so-uncommon. I'm wondering if Governor Cuomo's knee-jerk gun legislation or President Obama's intentionally fanning the racism flames in the Zimmerman case weren't both attempts to distract from what is happening in our cities, that they either aren't doing anything about or are exacerbating. Nobody wanted to look at the issue of why Zimmerman was out there in the first place. Nobody wants to look at the issue of people who pay heavy taxes not being safe from being gunned down on the street, having to hire their own protection. Better to take their guns away before New Yorkers start getting the idea of taking care of themselves, if crime and violence gets worse. I am not advocating that we start patrolling with weapons or that we even need to, but look at this instance, should agovernment be able to take away the security you need? Couldn't all this "security" money we spend at NSA and TSA and FBI be better spent protecting a 66 year old dog walker from getting murdered for absolutely no reason?
