I'm wondering now if closing down our embassies was done deliberately to coincide with this revelation, to keep people believing that all the spying is necessary for "safety", so it outweighs any privacy or constitutionality concerns.

Obviously when people complain that they are being watched too closely for their own protection,
the next step is to announce that you are about to die.

Therefore our spying on everyone has saved your life.

Nah, he's just resurrecting an political trick to instill fear in the public.  Fear prevents rational thought.  Most of the people I talk to are laughing at this warning.  The best part is, everytime Bush used the terror alert, democrats said he was using national security threats to change the debate when the democrats were going after Bush for warrantless wiretapping.  I will post a video where Glenn Greenwald absolutely undresses the Democrat Party and their hypocrisy.
