What do you mean it serves no purpose in civilian life?  Police departments are armed to the teeth with "assault rifle", sniper rifles,  armored vehicles, flash bang grenades, drones - you name it, the civilian police forces have it.  Serving and protecting, with weapons of war.

Yea the cops have automatic weapons and armored vehicles... thanks to Henry's "LETS ARM EVERYONE"

How do you explain SWAT raids(assault rifles and all) going up 1400% since the 1980's?  It's that because of the Hollywood bank robbery too?

LOL Henry knows so much, yet so little.  For most of my time in Vietnam I carried A SEMI AUTOMATIC
ASSAULT WEAPON, MUCH LIKE YOURS!
It wasn't until the introduction of the M16 that most Marines carried selectable automatic or semi.


Many Marines today carry assault weapons that feature 3 round bursts, not full auto.

So Henry... your assault weapon that you carry is probably superior to the M14 that I carried in war...

Always back to the North Hollywood Shoot out from 17 years ago....Guys in full body armor with modified rifles and a boatload of ammo. An incident that has never been duplicated or surpassed.

The only people killed were the gunman.

Many M14s were select fire from the start, almost all of them from the period were select fire capable, I'm sure you knew how and seen it done. The sporting rifles I owned were probably superior, that is due to time and the perfecting of such rifles. Who in their right mind wouldn't want a superior firearm when the technology is there to give it to us. Well I guess you don't, I guess you don't want people to have a firearm that is more accurate, reliable, safer then what you used. I find that sad considering that some of your brothers died due to the sh1tty quality guns over in Nam, I'll take a more accurate, reliable, safer gun any day of the week.

Accuracy depends on several factors. One caliber is 'more accurate in brush, or in wind, or in rain than
others.

The m14's didn't have reliability problems in Vietnam, but  the m16's, (your weapon of
choice) did.   Is reliability really a problem for you Henry?  Do you miss a buck because your gun was
unreliable?  Or is in YOUR coming race war where you worry about reliability?

You'd leave it to the police?  Have you been watching Ferguson?  They shot an unarmed kid for stealing cigars, and then sat by and watched while people looted and burned down the city.  It seems as police feel big bad and tough when kicking down doors of suspected drug dealers at 2am while they are sleeping, as they rush in with their assault rifles.  But...When a city is burning down...

There is one thing you can be sure of, when the situation is very dangerous like riots in LA or now in Ferguson, DON'T expect the police to be there to protect you. It is about their safety first and foremost, NOT yours.
