At the end of the day everyone including box would want to be armed if in a shooting situation like we just seen. Only difference is box doesn't trust others with the right to self defense, he believes self defense for others is calling 911.

I'm pretty sure there is a law in every state punishing murderers with 25 to life in prison, regardless of the tool used to murder.

Then, if you are willing to break the law, you can drive the weapon to New York, where semi-automatic handguns are banned, and sell it for triple the Vermont price. A quick $1800.
So... Federal Gun Laws where all states have the same background check and the same restrictions on gun sales would end this cycle... but there is a lot of money to be made by keeping things just the way they are.
