A Kettering, Ohio woman was shot in the leg during a gun safety demonstration by her husband
on Sunday morning.
According to WDTN Channel 2, the incident took place around 10 a.m. and police said that the
shooting appeared accidental.
Police told Channel 2 that the man was trying to demonstrate to his wife how to safely use a gun
in their living room when the weapon discharged, striking the woman in the ankle.

The couple’s adult daughter and her child were in the home when the weapon discharged,
but no one else was hurt.

Reacting to a request from the legal team representing embattled Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis,
the Oath Keepers militia group will not be making their way to Rowan County to defend Davis against
the “imperial judiciary.”

In a statement posted on the Oath Keepers website, founder Stewart Rhodes said his group of
heavily-armed former military veterans, law enforcement officers, and militia-wannabes were
standing down and would not be on hand when Davis returns to work on Monday.

“Upon request by Kim Davis’ legal team, Oath Keepers is canceling the planned security detail
for Mrs. Davis in Morehead, Kentucky,” Rhodes wrote. “Oath Keepers will NOT be conducting
a security detail for Mrs. Davis.

Democratic presidential candidate Martin O'Malley called for universal background
checks on gun purchases and a national age requirement for handgun possession as part
of a gun control proposal announced on Monday afternoon.

During a roundtable discussion in New York City, O'Malley called gun violence in this country
an "epidemic" and a "sickness."

One man is injured after a carjacking and shooting at a gas station in north Houston Saturday night.

Houston police responded to a shooting call around 11:15 p.m. Saturday at a Valero gas station on
Jensen Drive at Reid Street in north Houston. Officials say two men jumped another man in the gas
station parking lot and took the victim's Chevrolet pickup truck. Police say a witness then pulled out
a gun and began shooting at the suspects, accidentally hitting the carjacking victim in the head.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he remains in stable condition. Police say the
witness who shot at the suspects picked up shell casings and left the scene. Police found the stolen
pickup truck about a mile down the road but are still searching for the suspects.
