Hamburg Street is beginning to see some improvements.  The Redwood Diner's added a new outdoor seating area.  A great new sandwich shop has opened by the corner of May Avenue.  Ground has been broken on the new County Central Dispatch building.  And, we will be getting a beautiful, new Stewart's Shop soon.

The RENAISSANCE is spreading all over Schenectady County.

1.   And how many places have closed up.

2.   So what if a diner adds outside chairs, that is NOT attributable to your precious dem cronies.

3.   Stewarts renovates shops all over the place, that is NOT a sign of a renaissance attributable to your precious dem cronies.

4.   "Ground broken."    Excuse me buddy, but that dispatch project does NOT need to have "ground broken."  They are NOT putting up a new building!   If I have an open concept house and I want to make room separations, put up some walls, that not "breaking ground."   Any work on that building essentially would be taking an open concept space and creating separate rooms, I'm assuming an idea of sectioning off one area of the whole interior to be used for the dispatch and then perhaps within that space guessing that  there may need to be an office for "the boss" and then most likely putting in modular furniture, don't even know whether it would be separate cubicles.   And they probably have to do some wiring for the network, mostly likely under the floor, maybe they will raise the floor up.  But of course as one who does not nor ever owned a home, you wouldn't understand converting to or from open concept, re-wiring your house so you and all your kids are networked into a server someplace in the house, well even that is old and outdated in these days of wireless. And some people build a deck or patio outside their back door to put a picnic table and have an outdoor place to east.  

5.   Obvious you haven't been anywhere near Hamburg St where the dispatch center is to be.  Nothing but overgrown weeds outside the building.   If it wasn't for our change of season every year which kills off those weeds, you wouldn't be able to see that there is a building there the weeds would have grown into trees.  



And this renaissance, how about if YOU provide proof.   Show us how home values are going up, can you do that?   Of course, you don't know anything about owning a home, nor of home values, home sale prices, etc.   Home sale prices in that area of the town are falling big time.   Houses in that area of the town are selling for less than what they were 10 years ago.   And that brings home values down for everyone.

Guess you do have me blocked, don't see my posts here, because you obviously have not seen the TRUTHS about your precious dems and their cronies - Home sales and prices in Schenectady are DOWN, while every other county around they are going UP.   Now would you care to explain HOW that is indicative of a so called renaissance??????        Answer????   HA, TOTAL SILENCE as the cowardly cuckoo has NOTHING to say to provide proof to document otherwise.

This is the problem. People look at something new as proof of prosperity and well-being, but a well-maintained community is much more indicative of financial health and good government. Does all that horrid sprawl where a mansion and park-like grounds used to be in Niskayuna mean Niskayuna is in better shape? They are talking about closing a school.
All these banks and new housing developments going up all over the place should have alarmed people, but no, nobody suggested anything was out of whack. Especially when you see government spending, that seems to impress people, but Stockton was on a roll with the shiny new projects, too.
I'm glad the Redwood place is doing well, they seem to manage their business prudently, with the customer in mind. It's too bad about Simply Sterling.She had some nice stuff in there, at very good prices. I think that building wasn't the best location for a jewelry store, because if you weren't familiar with the business already, it didn't draw you in.

In the case of Hamburg Street, it is a sign of a momentum in a positive direction after years of stagnation.

I see the nayboob whiners can't stand that something positive is actually happening.

I have to laugh when people complain about the Mansion Square project.  The "mansion" hasn't been a mansion for many, many decades.  It was altered and used as a retirement home/care facility for quite a long time.
It certainly didn't generate the job and sales tax revenue and property tax revenue that the new development will provide.  
The actual facade of the building was basically just an old building -- nothing really historic. Its only claim to fame was that the parents of Leland Stanford bought it for a summer home, and he may (or may not) have visited it for a few weeks during one or two summer breaks from college.  Nothing significant happened in the house.  The truly historic structure that once stood there --- the original structure that was built around the same time as the Glen-Sanders house has been gone for 200 years (give or take a few years).

As for schools closing - that is a factor of student population, district needs and the condition of the buildings in question - it has NOTHING to do with whether a commercial development is built or not. Although, the expanded tax base from the development helps to keep property taxes level which makes the community more appealing to home buyers who may have or plan to have children.

We ALL have to laugh too.   We have to laugh at your claims that things are improving in Schenectady.   We have to laugh at your claims that the development that has occurred has expanded the tax base.

You must be in the guiness book of world records for telling more fairy tales in the history of the world.   You must be in the gusiness book of world records for having the wildest imagination.

I trust you DO know, and I trust you WILL ACKNOWLEDGE, VIA YOU POSTING HERE, that development in Schenectady County has NOT helped the tax base!

And it will be manned 24/7, and it will be beneficial to all businesses on Hamburg, and the surrounding community.  It will benefit all of Rotterdam. It is a GOOD THING.  

I have to laugh when somebody doesn't understand a thing I said about the damn development in Niskayuna, which did so much good they can't keep aschool open, why would that be, and yes, closing the school is about money.
Dispatch isn't a bad thing when it's necessary, but it is tax money and not indicative of any renaissance. I'm in favor of public servants having the facilities they need to do a job properly, who isn't?
