a "service weapon" is a weapon issued to him by the force as opposed to being his "personal weapon" which he would have purchased for himself. They are equally as deadly and will have the same result if not handled and discharged properly by a person fully trained in handling such weapons, civilian, military personnel, police officer, etc. (all equal when it comes to proper legal use of a weapon)....but you already knew that!

Nah, cops shoot "bad guys" too(if you consider unlicensed drug merchants "bad guys")...If you follow box's posts, gun owners(the mundane) never shoot in self defense, and if they do and kill somebody, they must stand trial to justify it. Unlike the hero, when the "service weapon" is "discharged", it almost always is justified using "officer safety".

The gun owner occasionally shoots in self defense, but if you're a woman, having a gun in your home does NOT make you safer, in fact, it adds to your risk of being killed.

Published in the American Journal of Public Health, researchers interviewed 417 women across 67 battered women’s shelters. Nearly a third of these women had lived in a household with a firearm. In two-thirds of the homes, their intimate partners had used the gun against them, usually threatening to kill (71.4%) them.
A very small percentage of these women (7%) had used a gun successfully in self-defense, and primarily just to scare the attacking male partner away.

He certainly will have no other physical advantage or weapon with which to perpetrate the assault against his weaker partner.

Yes, that is the logical conclusion. A gun is the ONLY lethal weapon in a home. And apparently, based on box's posts, women can never be trusted to possess a gun. Evidently they are untrainable.
