Just explain why police are allowed to be better armed than citizens that are just as likely to face a situation with a heavily armed person. Take a position for once. Try to form an argument with a premise and a conclusion. Its not very hard. It wont hurt, I promise.

That was the point. The average citizen gets 7 rounds when faced with a situation like this. I agree, spray as many rounds in the direction of the shooter. That is what police can do, the average citizen is expected to shoot seven rounds and reload.

(1) It's a cops job to be out there to serve and protect...as many of you have stated, that's what they are paid for (2) A cop is much more likely to encounter a criminial armed with a gun in public than a citizen (3) A citizen carrying a gun in public is a potential danger to themselves and others if not properly trained (4) A citizen encountering a criminal with an AK47 firing at them has no weapons they can carry publicly to defend against such attck.... A cop is suppossed to be able to defend against such an attack and should have equal or better weapons to counter
So CISSY, how are you going to defend against a heavily armed criminal that just exited his car on State Street, at 1am in the morning, and is spraying AK47 bullets in your direction.....watcha gonna do? No, never been shot at. Pretty sure it's scary as sh!t, I wouldn't imagine exhilarating. The thought of it is scarier than sh!t. The thought of being shot at or assaulted and left defenseless is even scarier. Cops don't have to worry about that. Granted they are most likely scared when faced with gun fire, but at least they have the comfort of knowing they are going to be armed properly and authorized to shoot if they feel their life is threatened. The average citizen has the burden of proof when defending yourself with lethal force.

Yes it is but the truth is they can not protect us all of the time, as I said before cops arrive after the crime has been committed 99% of the time, the citizens face the criminals before the cops ever do, we should have just as much protection as the cops because of that.

Not true at all, how many criminals attempt to rob a cop at gun point or break in into a cops house armed. Citizens are far more likely to be involved in a crime involving a gun then cops. Saying otherwise is a complete lie but that is the lie many still believe today. To give an example roofers, construction workers, fishermen, loggers, sanitation workers are more likely to get injured or killed on the job.

I agree with this one and that is why many gun owners and gun organizations encourage all gun owners to receive some form of training be it self defense and gun safety. There is many classes one can take that are held by groups like the NRA to receive such training.

While one might be outgunned we shouldn't limit citizens to have zero chance of protection, shot placement is key and a pistol can save ones life even if facing someone with a high powered rifle. Laws today make it hard for law abiding citizens to defend themselves from a knife attack let alone a heavily armed suspect. What's the average response time in Schenectady 5-8 minutes if you're lucky, that's a long time to wait for heavier weapons to arrive if needed, citizens should be able to have some form of defense to give them a fighting chance, instead some want to limit citizens chances even more.

While your answer was directed at Cicero I will say the same thing, a pistol can save your live if you have a chance to use it. These cops were lucky, this was a horrible situation to be in but the outcome was the man with the AK ended up dead because of the officers side arms.
