It would be just as sad but like you said it wouldn't make national headlines, the reason it did is because those like box want to use it for their anti-gun agenda. The parents were idiots without a doubt but their stupidity shouldn't be used to tell responsible parents how to live. Since more kids die from poisonings then accidental shootings where is box screaming about those irresponsible parents, why isn't he calling for laws which would make all households lock up poisonous household items. The reason is because it is common sense that there should be cabinet safety catches where cleaners and other items are stored, not everyone follows it and we get similar cases like this one with the same outcome. There is selective outrage when it comes to guns that is the plain truth.
Henry wants kids to die from gunshot wounds until they stop dying from poisoning. (Makes sense to Henry! ) Henry wants 5 year olds to have guns until kids stop dying from car wrecks. Henry wants armed and dangerous 5 year olds to shoot their friends until none drown in pools.

The gun used is actually the same gun I bought my younger brother for his birthday when he was a kid, safety always came first when I brought him to the range and he knew not to touch it unless I was around. Point is though millions of kids shoot guns without incident every day, its not surprising there will be shitty cases like this one but it is not the norm as some here would like to suggest.

Box don't act as if you care about this kid because you don't, you used this kids death only to promote your sick anti-gun agenda. At least Joebxr had some class not to spin this into some political hate ridden rant like you did. When you first read this story did you think to yourself "oh poor kid" or did you get a boner while running to the computer to trash gun owners, I'm guessing the 2nd one.

I knew that Henry was a GunHugger, but until now, I didn't know misguided he is.
Read the following statement and see if you see anything distressing about it: safety always came first when I brought him to the range "and he knew not to touch it unless I was around."
The morgue is full of "KIDS THAT KNEW NOT TO TOUCH A GUN WHEN NO ONE WAS AROUND!
The fire department puts out countless fires started by: KIDS THAT KNEW NOT TO PLAY WITH MATCHES.
Eye doctors get rich by sewing up KIDS WHO KNEW NOT TO RUN WITH SCISSORS.
This is really sad. The danger is there, but Henry ignores it because "He Knew Not To Touch It.

Hey... Little Kids Playing With Guns... What Could Possibly Go Wrong???
Pathetic He really doesn't see any problem.

Kids shouldn't be afraid of guns, they should be taught to respect them and understand the dangers of misusing them. You make it seem as if there is a 99% chance a kid will kill someone if there is a gun in the house, you're out of touch with reality. I bet most of us here grew up in homes which had a gun or have a gun now, you seem to be the only one afraid of it. Kids are curious when it comes to firearms, take the curiosity away from them and there is a 99.9% chance there will never be an incident. I taught my brother the same way my father taught me and I had no regrets in doing it.

For people like Henry, who see nothing wrong with leaving a child alone with access to a gun because "he told them not to touch it"... there were "Safe Storage" laws proposed (NRA killed).

I see no problem with it, I bet these kids will be a lot safer then a family who owns a gun and never taught their kid how to use it, ever hear the saying curiosity killed the cat.

Yea... I bet the GunHugger who is the subject of this thread was out of touch with reality when he gave his 5 year old a gun.
5 year olds still believe in 'monsters under the bed', Power Rangers are real, and Santa Claus lives in the North Pole... and YOU WOULD GIVE THEM ACCESS TO A LOADED GUN?
IMO someone should get a 5 year old to supervise Henry.

Would the safe storage laws prevented the accident or just seek punishment for the accident?

Yea... 5 year olds will NEVER get into the cookies WHEN MOM SAYS NO!
5 Year olds will always look both ways before crossing the street, because they were TOLD TO!
5 year olds will always do what mom and dad say to do... always!

If I'm at the range and supervising I would have no problem handing a kid a loaded firearm after I made sure they knew all the rules and how the gun functioned.

Henry... did you ever take care of a 5 year old?
Read Calvin & Hobbes... the cartoon is fiction, but it often shows how a 5 or 6 year old sees the world.
Telling him NOT TO and walking away is as irresponsible as putting a kid behind the wheel of a running car and "TELLING HIM NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING"
