BURKESVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A 5-year-old boy accidentally shot his 2-year-old sister to death in rural southern Kentucky with a rifle he had received as a gift last year, authorities said.
The children's mother was home at the time of the shooting Tuesday afternoon but had stepped out to the front porch for a few minutes and "she heard the gun go off," Cumberland County Coroner Gary White said. He said the rifle was kept in a corner and the family didn't realize a bullet was left inside it.
White told the Lexington Herald-Leader the boy received the .22-caliber rifle as a gift.
"It's a Crickett," White said, referring to a company that specifically makes guns, clothes and books for children. "It's a little rifle for a kid. ... The little boy's used to shooting the little gun."

“It’s a Crickett,” the coroner explained. “It’s a little rifle for a kid… The little boy’s used to shooting the little gun.” “Just one of those crazy accidents,” he added.

A 22LR fired at about a 45 degree angle from a rifle, it will travel about 7700 ft. (almost a mile and a half)
Every one within a mile and a half of this armed 5 year old was in danger of being shot... all because some GunHugger wants his 5 year old kid to shoot a gun. F'n Idiot!
There are some GunHuggers who think their 2nd amendment rights applies to 5 year olds... and those GunHuggers would consider this shooting an "accident"! Giving a 5 year old a rifle... allowing a 5 year old access to a loaded .22... is no accident!

Shall I delete my original post so you can continue to direct this the way you want? Can't you address the one specific instance I opened this thread for? Why is that so friggin' difficult?
PS - I'M THE ONE THAT SAID IT WAS A TRAGEDY...AND IT IS !!!!!

In post #1 a kid gets hold of a gun and kills In post #2 a kid gets hold of a gun and kills then In post #3 a cop goes psycho and kills.
Post #1 & post #2 are about guns not secured by their owners... (securing weapons is part of some gun laws that has been eliminated by the NRA) GunHugger owner of the weapon is at fault.
Post #3 is about a murder... not about kids finding an unattended gun. It's also a tragedy but totally off topic and unrelated to #'s 1 & 2. Try to keep up Cic. Your blinding hatred of the police is distorting your judgement.

Speak American jagoff! Don't like be called out for the jagoff that you are, huh?
You posted the equivalent of "If you don't play by my rules, I'll take my ball and go home".
I don't care about being "called out", its a goddam Internet forum. The only jagoff's are sissy's that play thread police. The tread police are usually those members ill equip to hold their own in a debate.

When? I don't care if threads have off topic conversations within a thread. I certainly wouldn't threaten to delete the thread because it didn't go in the direction I wanted. I leave that up to you thread nazi's.
Very sad case but would this have been posted if a kid poisoned his sister by mistake with a unlocked bottle of bleach under the cabinet, I highly doubt it.

Would it be any less sad and wouldn't it be caused by a similar level of irresponsibility? True, might not make national headlines, but just as sad and tragic.

No, issue is you are a thread jagoff...can't hold intelligent discussion on things that are being presented because you only have the mentality to use your canned talk....CISSY WORLD!!!!!

It would be just as sad but like you said it wouldn't make national headlines, the reason it did is because those like box want to use it for their anti-gun agenda. The parents were idiots without a doubt but their stupidity shouldn't be used to tell responsible parents how to live. Since more kids die from poisonings then accidental shootings where is box screaming about those irresponsible parents, why isn't he calling for laws which would make all households lock up poisonous household items. The reason is because it is common sense that there should be cabinet safety catches where cleaners and other items are stored, not everyone follows it and we get similar cases like this one with the same outcome. There is selective outrage when it comes to guns that is the plain truth.
