Two Explosions at Boston Marathon Finish Line

University of Mobile’s Cross Country Coach, who was near the finish line of the Boston Marathon when a series of explosions went off, said he thought it was odd there were bomb sniffing dogs at the start and finish lines.

“They kept making announcements on the loud speaker that it was just a drill and there was nothing to worry about,” Coach Ali Stevenson told Local 15. “It seemed like there was some sort of threat, but they kept telling us it was just a drill.”

Stevenson had just finished the marathon. His wife had been sitting in one of the seating sections where an explosion went off, but thankfully she left her seat and was walking to meet up with him.

“There was just smoke, another explosion went off,” Stevenson said. “We all started running. There were people crying.”

Stevenson said there was no question in his mind that this was an intentional act.

Local 15 News is talking with more locals who were taking part in the run. Tune in for live coverage beginning at 5 p.m

Ok, so who is Obama going to declare war against?

If the suspect is Saudi like the 9/11 attackers then we must target Iran

British police say they are reviewing security plans for Sunday's London Marathon, the next major international marathon, because of the explosions that hit the race in Boston.

Thousands of people compete in the London Marathon every year, thronging the city's streets. London is also considered a top target for international terrorists.

It was not yet immediately clear what caused the blasts in Boston.

A London Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed Monday that police are working with marathon officials to review security plans for Sunday's event.

The London race's chief executive, Nick Bitel, expressed shock and sadness about the situation in Boston, saying "it is a very sad day for athletics and for our friends in marathon running."

Crowdsourced video, photos illuminate Boston blasts
Those who recorded what happened before two fatal blasts at the Boston Marathon could have been gathering evidence, not just capturing memories.

by Stephen Shankland  April 15, 2013 2:43 PM PDT

CBS News Special Report: Video captures the moment of one of the two explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Scott Pelley reports.
Law enforcement officials could have something very different on their hands as they investigate the dual bomb blasts that struck the Boston Marathon finish line today: an abundance of photo and video evidence from the public.
Government surveillance, while growing, still misses more than it catches. But events with thousands of spectators offer the potential for a detailed crowdsourced record of what happened.
This public panopticon is changing how we see the world. February's Russian meteor was captured by many dash-cams mounted in Russian cars, but in this case the event is of profound interest to law enforcement officials, not just scientists.

The Boston Police Department has begun requesting records about the explosions, which killed two people and injured dozens.
"Boston Police looking for video of the finish line," said Cheryl Fiandaca, chief the department's public information bureau. However, in a sign of the difficulties of such work, the Boston city government's Web site was unresponsive today after the blast.
The chaos and clutter of the scene doubtless will complicate any analysis of what happened. And for people who have photos or videos that might be useful, it's not clear yet whether there's a way to share them with investigators, official or unofficial. Crowdsourced data-gathering like this is not routine, though it's likely to become more so the way surveillance video is today.
YouTube has several videos, but most of it is from news agencies so far. (CBS News video of the two explosions.) People can use metadata such as hashtags to label relevant photos or videos, but that sort of informal collection can be polluted with irrelevant, inappropriate, or duplicate content.
Links to video and various photos have spread widely across Twitter, but they tend to focus on the most dramatic moments during and after the blast. It's quite possible that investigators will want to see what happened before that during more mundane moments.
An FBI representative said it was too early so far for the bureau to have such a service available.

Prayers and thoughts go out to ALL involved. I hope they catch the SOB (s) ASAP.

The media so screwed up, MSNBC saying the JFK Library bombed, it wasn't small fire unrelated.

CNN already saying right wing domestic terrorist.

Why can't the news wait until there are actual facts and then report them?

And yes that picture was graphic, That man must be in shock : (  Type of injuries our troops come home with everyday.

"If You See Something, Say Something" Campaign
About the Campaign

The nationwide "If You See Something, Say Something™" public awareness campaign - is a simple and effective program to raise public awareness of indicators of terrorism and terrorism-related crime, and to emphasize the importance of reporting suspicious activity to the proper local law enforcement authorities. The campaign was originally used by New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), which has licensed the use of the slogan to DHS for anti-terrorism and anti-terrorism crime related efforts.

Homeland Security Begins with Hometown Security

If you see something suspicious taking place then report that behavior or activity to local law enforcement or in the case of emergency call 9-1-1. Factors such as race, ethnicity, national origin, or religious affiliation alone are not suspicious. For that reason, the public should report only suspicious behavior and situations (e.g., an unattended backpack in a public place or someone trying to break into a restricted area) rather than beliefs, thoughts, ideas, expressions, associations, or speech unrelated to terrorism or other criminal activity. Only reports that document behavior reasonably indicative of criminal activity related to terrorism will be shared with federal partners.

DHS is working to expand “If You See Something, Say Something ™” throughout the country by partnering with a variety of entities including: transportation systems, universities, states, cities, sports leagues and local law enforcement. If you’re interested in getting your group involved please contact 202-282-8010.

Raising Public Awareness

In July 2010, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), at Secretary Janet Napolitano's direction, launched a national "If You See Something, Say Something™" campaign – a simple and effective program to raise public awareness of indicators of terrorism and terrorism-related crime, and to emphasize the importance of reporting suspicious activity to the proper state and local law enforcement authorities. The "If You See Something, Say Something™" campaign - originally implemented by New York City's Metropolitan Transportation Authority and now licensed to DHS for a nationwide campaign - is a simple and effective program to engage the public and key frontline employees to identify and report indicators of terrorism and terrorism-related crime to the proper transportation and law enforcement authorities.

The Department launches the "If You See Something, Say Something™" campaign in conjunction with the Department of Justice's Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting Initiative - an administration effort to train state and local law enforcement to recognize behaviors and indicators related to terrorism and terrorism-related crime; standardize how those observations are documented and analyzed; and ensure the sharing of those reports with the Federal Bureau of Investigation-led Joint Terrorism Task Forces for further investigation and Fusion Centers for analysis.

Protecting Privacy, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties

A critical element of the DHS mission is ensuring that the civil rights and civil liberties of persons are not diminished by our security efforts, activities, and programs. Consequently, the "If You See Something, Say Something™" campaign respects civil rights or civil liberties by emphasizing behavior, rather than appearance, in identifying suspicious activity.

Strengthening Hometown Security

Both the "If You See Something, Say Something™" campaign and the NSI underscore the concept that homeland security begins with hometown security. An alert public plays a critical role in keeping our nation safe. Strengthening hometown security involves creating partnerships across numerous states as well as the private sector.

Recent expansions of the "If You See Something, Say Something™" campaign include partnerships with numerous sports teams and leagues, transportation agencies, private sector partners, states, cities and universities. DHS also has Public Service Announcements which have been distributed to television and radio stations across the country. The campaign will continue to be expanded in the coming weeks and months.

It took that long to start the right wing extremist narrative?  It took me 5 minutes to see that coming.  I predict that after the dust settles it will be renamed the Patriot Day bombing or the Tax Day bombing.

We all knew that Buck is a jerk... and he just proved it.

Deal with it, Boxy...Guess the 'can't have a bomb' law didn't work.

Now I'm waiting to see what the knee-jerk reaction is going to be this time and who gets blamed and who was a fault.

Maybe 'Il Duce' Cuomo will take away the rest of our 2nd Amendment rights after this. Maybe tanks will be at the finish line. Holy sh*t, maybe even spectators will have to stand 10 ft. apart from each other. Or maybe even a new type of trash can, like they had in the U.K, that will absorb bomb blasts and will only cost a few of our rights and $10T.

In any event, you know the knee jerk will be something outlandish and stupid.

Bomb Drill Was Taking Place During Marathon Explosions

Freda Illustration
Activist Post

There were multiple anti-hijacking drills that occurred on 9/11. There were anti-terror drills in London on 7/7. There was an active shooter drill in Connecticut the day of the Sandy Hook Massacre.  And now it's admitted that there were bomb drills during the Boston Marathon where two bombs did indeed explode.

University of Mobile's cross country coach and marathon participant, Ali Stevenson, told a local NBC affiliate that there were multiple announcements that bomb squads and bomb-sniffing dogs were just part of a "drill" prior to the actual even happening.
