Jews Still Planning to Sue Jimmy Carter over Anti-Israel Book
The five plaintiffs are seeking at least $5 million in compensation. The hard cover edition cost $27.
By: Yori Yanover
Published: April 10th, 2013

Asserting that no individual has done more than former President Jimmy Carter to defame Israel and to challenge its right to exist, a group of readers filed a class action suit against Carter and the Simon & Schuster publishing company, back in February, 2011, alleging that Carter’s book, “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid,” contains numerous false and knowingly misleading statements intended to promote the author’s agenda of anti-Israel propaganda and to deceive the reading public instead of presenting accurate information as advertised.

You hurt my feelings so now I am going to sue you, what little pansies these 5 people must be. This is the reason so many Jews get the stereotype they have, Carter gave his opinion and these people want to silence any questioning of Israel's actions

Yori Yanover must be a racist.

Shouldn't the country of Israel be suing Carter, not the Jews?

This is more than just "hurting feelings."  False statements - like the kind that Carter made - have had life and death consequences in the Middle East.  Carter wasn't just merely giving an opinion as one of the "common people" -- sadly and/or strangely enough there are still a bunch of unintelligent nitwits who believe that Carter is some kind of expert on foreign policy.  Carter wasn't satisfied screwing up the Middle East 30 years ago -- now he wants to meddle and screw it up even more -- although now I believe that Obama and Hillary Clinton are giving him strong competition to see who can f-up American foreign policy in more places around the globe.

As far as "stereotypes", those come from ignorant bigots who get to feel more like a man (or a woman as the case may be) by trying put others down.

School apologizes for 'Nazi' writing assignment
By Scott Waldman
Updated 12:56 pm, Friday, April 12, 2013

The Albany school district is embroiled in controversy after a teacher assigned this assignment to
students that requires them to write an essay that proves the writer is loyal to the German Nazi's and that
"Jews are evil and the source of our problems."

Albany

Think like a Nazi, the assignment required students. Argue why Jews are evil.

Students in some Albany High School English classes were asked this week as part of a persuasive writing assignment to make an abhorrent argument: "You must argue that Jews are evil, and use solid rationale from government propaganda to convince me of your loyalty to the Third Reich!"

Students were asked to watch and read Nazi propaganda, then pretend their teacher was a Nazi government official who needed to be convinced of their loyalty. In five paragraphs, they were required to prove that Jews were the source of Germany's problems.

The exercise was intended to challenge students to formulate a persuasive argument and was given to three classes, Albany Superintendent Marguerite Vanden Wyngaard said. She said the assignment should have been worded differently.

"I would apologize to our families," she said. "I don't believe there was malice or intent to cause any insensitivities to our families of Jewish faith."

One-third of the students refused to complete the assignment, she said.

Vanden Wyngaard said the exercise reflects the type of writing expected of students under the new Common Core curriculum, the tough new academic standards that require more sophisticated writing. Such assignments attempt to connect English with history and social studies.

She said she understood the academic intent of the assignment — to make an argument based only on limited information at hand. Still, she acknowledged that it was worded in a very offensive manner. She did not identify the English teacher or discuss whether the educator faced any discipline.

Students were asked to make a rhetorical argument, drawing on previous lessons in crafting an opinion.

To help with their writing, they were required to incorporate the elements of an argument identified by Aristotle, the ancient Greek philosopher. Students had to look up the definitions of "Logos" (persuasion by reasoning), "Pathos" (persuasion by emotional appeal) and "Ethos" (persuasion by the author's character) and choose one of those argument styles before writing.

Other ill-considered teacher assignments have made national news this year.

In February, a Manhattan teacher caused an uproar after fourth-graders were given a math problem based on how many daily whippings a slave received.

In January, Georgia educators attempted to teach division to elementary school students by asking how many beatings per day former slave and abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass received.

I can probably think of fifty or so examples of better ways to teach persuasive writing styles, just off the top of my head. I'm not to sure about this Common Core stuff. It sounds like they are encouraging stuff that doesn't really need to be part of a high school education, but I am really limited as far as what I know about it yet. We don't have very many school age kids in my family right now.

It sounds like the teacher was looking to find the most persuasive students, by giving them
an extremely difficult and unpopular topic to promote.

Obviously the ones who refused to take part have no desire to be persuasive writers.

The government and corporate America will happily snatch up persuasive writers that
can sell unpopular ideas.

Like fracking and drilling for example.

Over the years I have heard many arguments claiming the Liberal Jewish population in Germany was
blamed for the the things wrong with the society. There are those who say that the German Jews brought
the holocaust on themselves, by abandoning Judaism, or by embracing too enthusiastically the non-Jewish
world. These claims are no excuse for the holocaust. No victim can or should be blamed for what happened.

Today, liberal Judaism and liberal interpretations are minorities in Israel. Fundamentalism and strict adherence
to Jewish traditions are prevalent in Israel, but in today's Germany, progressive liberal Judaism is growing and is
quite popular.

Israel now seems pretty right wing to me.
