A federal judge ruled Friday that the morning-after pill, known by its brand name of Plan B,
should be available without a prescription or any age or point-of-sale restrictions within 30
days. The ruling is in opposition to a previous decision by the Obama administration.

Judge Edward R. Korman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York ruled
in Tummino v. Hamburg, reversing a prior decision by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
and Health and Human Services (HHS).

And what a horrible decision in my opinion.

A 12 year old can go into the local CVS and get morning after pills??? On what planet does this seem like a good idea??

This will be so abused and will be a replacement for any form of birth control for many young women...especially girls who are not on the pill. It will be covered by medicaide (most likely) and young girls will abuse this option.

And why....because getting on the pill takes a level of responsibility. It has a women thinking that she is taking care of herself. The morning after pill takes any form of responsibility out the window and allows girls to act irresponsibly. I'm sure there will be an increase in STD's as a result of this.

I agree with much of your post.  I would think an age appropriate limit should be set.
This ruling is no doubt the result of TeaBagger Politics which leaves no room for debate... no other
option but theirs, and forces into the courts what should have been settled while drafting the
legislation.

You do realize that there is a huge difference between a...
BABY:

And a...
Zygote or an embryo:

You use the terms interchangebly, as if they were the same thing.

You do realize that you are a moron.   The fetus is an unborn human -- and you know it has a heart beat and brain waves and other life signs from very early in the pregnancy.

Again, you and the left-wing radicals who support unlimited abortion on demand are willing to lie, distort and otherwise ignore the truth to get their way.   You are willing to dehumanize the victim  (in this case the unborn) and create your own reality or should I say ignorant excuses (saying it really isn't a life) and cloak your agenda of death in misleading language like  Cuomo saying he wants to expand abortion so that he can "protect women and end violence towards women."     The FACT is that abortion VIOLENTLY ends  a human life -- over half .. probably way more than half  (since Paul Tonko and Obama refuse to end gender selection abortion) are female.   What a pathetic pile of manure they have fed us over the years -- all in their pursuit of the agenda of death and accumulating political power and handsome pensions.

DVOR,
Your responses all follow the same patern...
You put up a strawman then attack it...
Pay attention ok?
Stawman #1
The fetus is an unborn human
A human fetus is an unborn human being... YES WE AGREE.  It may or may not become a human being some
day.  (When it is born it will BECOME a human being.

Strawman#2
You are willing to dehumanize the victim
The VICTIM is a woman being forced to birth and raise a baby against her will.  Conservative
values FORCE her to give birth, then those same CONSERVATIVE VALUES will condemn her if
she now needs welfare or food stamps to feed that baby that THEY FORCED HER TO DELIVER.

Straw man #3
(saying it really isn't a life)
I never said it wasn't life... (but you already know that).  A HUMAN ZYGOTE is life... so is a human
cancer, human skin cells or human appendix, "LIFE".  But none are a HUMAN BEING.

You are free to come here and spout your bile if it makes you feel better, but when you quote me,
at least quote my words, not your list of strawmen as if they were my words.

Oh, BTW...  "You do realize that you are a moron."

First, i believe the fetus is a human being from the moment of conception and believe that there should be a Constitutional amendment to clearly define that human life begins at conception and ends at natural death.

Second, it is an untruth to say that anyone forces a woman to raise her baby -- after all putting the baby up for adoption is an option and there are many couples who would love to adopt and raise that baby.  Furthermore, you are trying to distort the truth again by claiming that all who share my view would condemn the mother and deny her assistance in raising the baby.  The fact is that myself and many other Pro-Lifers support great organizations like Birthright which assist women who choose to bring their babies to full-term and raise them --- and I have never suggested that any program that assists women raise their children be eliminated nor cut.

Third, I don't need your approval to post my opinion here or anyplace else nor do I need you to tell me what I can and can't say.

Sweeping anti-abortion bill goes to Kansas gov.
By John Hanna, Associated Press3:12a.m. EDT April 6, 2013
kansas abortion

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kansas legislators gave final passage to a sweeping anti-abortion measure Friday night, sending Gov. Sam Brownback a bill that declares life begins "at fertilization" while blocking tax breaks for abortion providers and banning abortions performed solely because of the baby's sex.

The House voted 90-30 for a compromise version of the bill reconciling differences between the two chambers, only hours after the Senate approved it, 28-10. The Republican governor is a strong abortion opponent, and supporters of the measure expect him to sign it into law so that the new restrictions take effect July 1.

In addition to the bans on tax breaks and sex-selection abortions, the bill prohibits abortion providers from being involved in public school sex education classes and spells out in more detail what information doctors must provide to patients seeking abortions.

The measure's language that life begins "at fertilization" had some abortion-rights supporters worrying that it could be used to legally harass providers. Abortion opponents call it a statement of principle and not an outright ban on terminating pregnancies.

"The human is a magnificent piece of work at all stages of development, wondrous in every regard, from the microscopic until full development," said Sen. Steve Fitzgerald, a Leavenworth Republican who supported the bill.

Abortion opponents argue the full measure lessens the state's entanglement with terminating pregnancies, but abortion-rights advocates say it threatens access to abortion services.

The declaration that life begins at fertilization is embodied in "personhood" measures in other states. Such measures are aimed at revising their constitutions to ban all abortions, and none have been enacted, though North Dakota voters will have one on the ballot in 2014.

But Kansas lawmakers aren't trying to change the state constitution, and the measure notes that any rights suggested by the language are limited by decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court. It declared in its historic Roe v. Wade decision in 1973 that women have a right to obtain abortions in some circumstances, and has upheld that decision while allowing increasing restrictions by states.

Thirteen states, including Missouri, have such language in their laws, according to the National Right to Life Committee.

Sen. David Haley, a Kansas Democrat who opposed the bill, zeroed in on the statement, saying that supporters of the bill were pursuing a "Taliban-esque" course of letting religious views dictate policy limiting women's ability to make decisions about health care and whether they'll have children.

And in the House, Rep. John Wilson, a Lawrence Democrat, complained that the bill was "about politics, not medicine."

"It's the very definition of government intrusion in a woman's personal medical decisions," he said.

Brownback has signed multiple anti-abortion measures into law, and the number of pregnancies terminated in the state has declined 11 percent since he took office in January 2011.

The governor said he still has to review this year's bill thoroughly but added, "I am pro-life."

This year's legislation is less restrictive than a new North Dakota law that bans abortions as early as the sixth week of pregnancy and a new Arkansas law prohibiting most abortions after the 12th week. But many abortion opponents still see it as a significant step.

"There is a clear statement from Kansas with respect to the judgment on the inherent value of human life," said Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee Chairwoman Mary Pilcher-Cook, a Shawnee Republican and leading advocate for the measure.

The bill passed despite any solid data on how many sex-selection abortions are performed in Kansas. A 2008 study by two Columbia University economists suggested the practice of aborting female fetuses — widespread in some nations where parents traditionally prefer sons — is done in the U.S. on a limited basis.

But legislators on both sides of the issue said the practice should be banned, however frequent it is.

The bill also would require physicians to give women information that addresses breast cancer as a potential risk of abortion. Advocates on both sides acknowledge there's medical evidence that carrying a fetus to term can lower a woman's risk for breast cancer, but doctors convened by the National Cancer Institute a decade ago concluded that abortion does not raise the risk for developing the disease.

The provisions dealing with tax breaks are designed to prevent the state from subsidizing abortions, even indirectly. For example, health care providers don't have the pay the state sales tax on items they purchase, but the bill would deny that break to abortion providers. Also, a woman could not include abortion costs if she deducts medical expenses on her income taxes.

"Every taxpayer will be able to know with certainty that their money is not being used for abortion," Pilcher-Cook said.

But Jordan Goldberg, state advocacy counsel for the New York City-based Center for Reproductive Rights, called the tax provisions "appalling and discriminatory."

"It's probably, if not definitely unconstitutional, and it's incredibly mean-spirited," she said.

God's Law is the Truth -- not the U.S. Constitution nor the dictionary.

But just plain common sense and rational thought proves  that you and all the other Pro-Deathers are lying and distorting the truth by claiming that a fetus in the womb is not a human life.   I have already explained it a number of times in posts over the years --- bottom line the human fetus in the womb will become a full-term human baby .. it won't become a turnip or a butterfly.

The proof that pro-abortionists are lying and distorting is that they want to change the laws so that women don't have to be shown the ultrasound when being counseled before an abortion.  The ultrasound clearly shows a tiny, living  baby with a face, hands, legs, torso .. -- not a turnip and not a butterfly or anything else.

You have chosen to promote the agenda of death and violence -- I choose to promote Life.   I pray that one day you and the other pro-deathers will see the light, repent and change your ways.

God's Law is the Truth Who's GOD?
Who's God.  US Law should be determined by one sect of one religion???
Many Christian sects allow abortion, others not... Yet you demand that all Americans follow YOUR
SECT'S VIEW!

But just plain common sense and rational thought proves  that you and all the other Pro-Deathers are
lying and distorting the truth by claiming that a fetus in the womb is not a human life.
STRAWMAN ALERT:
As I've posted before and will post one more time...
A HUMAN FETUS IS HUMAN LIFE!  OK?  GOT IT?  UNDERSTAND?
A fingernail, a removed appendix, tissue removed from lyposuction... IT'S ALL HUMAN LIFE!

bottom line the human fetus in the womb will become a full-term human baby ..
A human fetus MAY become a full term human baby, but only if it continues until birth.
In the case of a miscarriage, the HUMAN FETUS does not continue to become a HUMA
N BABY.

The proof that pro-abortionists are lying and distorting is that they want to change the laws so
that women don't have to be shown the ultrasound when being counseled before an abortion.
Should I be forved to see an ultrasound of my cancer?  Or my appendix before they are removed?
NO??? Why not?  IT IS HUMAN TISSUE. IT IS HUMAN LIFE!

The ultrasound clearly shows a tiny, living  baby with a face, hands, legs, torso ..
-- not a turnip and not a butterfly or anything else.
Take a look at a human zygote... or maybe it's a turnip or a butterfly... I can't tell the difference
can you???

Human embryo, or butterfly, or chimp, or salamander???

Exactly....and the TRUTH will be obvious when we die!
We can debate this till the cows come home.....but.... IF by chance there is a GOD IN HEAVEN.....we will be answering and explaining our actions to GOD....not man, the constitution or the dictionary.

Exactly HOW does Bumbler speak with God?  By phone?  Dreams?  Visions?  He meets God at the local
bar?  By email... God@Heaven.org

Which God exactly is it that Bumbler speaks with?
The Muslim god, the Christian god, the Jewish God... The Hindu, Buddhist or Shinto God?

Most of these GODS have varrying views on abortion, and among sects of each of these
religions, there are opposing views with some in the same religion, such as Christians, condemn
abortion while others support choice.

The interesting things is that the same politicians who are pro-abortion are anti-gun  While these politicians think it is entirely appropriate to limit the right to bear arms, they absolutely refuse to consider any limits to the so-called right to an abortion.  One particular member of Congress - who shall go nameless - absolutely refuses to discuss the abortion issue with anyone and has actually turned his back and walked away from people who have quietly and respectfully asked him questions on the subject.  Like it is beneath his dignity to actually answer questions from the people who elected him (and in some cases actually supported him from way back when he was a nobody to become a somebody) and who he is supposedly supposed to represent.

Why is it not reasonable to consider limitations on abortion???   For example, most of the world (with the exception of China, North Korea and a few other such nations) except the United States does NOT allow abortion for the purpose of gender selection.   Nancy Pelosi and her crowd in Congress absolutely refuse to support any legislation to end the practice of abortion for gender selection.

Why is it not reasonable to limit abortion beyond a certain point in the pregnancy and/or end the practice of late term abortion?

Why are Governor Cuomo and the pro-abortion crowd in the State Legislature insisting that women should not be shown ultrasound pictures during pre-abortion counseling?   Every abortion provider does an ultrasound to determine the size of the fetus since  (and this is disturbing) they charge more depending on how large the fetus is.   Is it because the abortionists are afraid that when a woman sees that the fetus is actually a baby with srms, legs, a face -- and is often actually sucking its thumb in the womb .. that maybe  .. just maybe the woman may choose LIFE for her child ??????????????????????????

The pro-abortion crowd tries to present itself as more enlightened and more progressive than those who are Pro-Life but it is beyond comprehension how allowing one human to end the life of another (especially when the other is defenseless and unable to speak for itself) can be anything other than unenlightened, regressive, barbaric and inhumane.   They (the pro-death crowd) also try to present themselves as more educated -- but this really isn't a subject that needs a whole lot of book learning to know that it is just plain WRONG ---- the simple truth is that the fetus is a human life and the enlightened, progressive, humane and educated way of thinking is to do EVERYTHING in our power individually and as a nation/society to respect ALL human life,  better ALL human life and defend ALL human life.

they are not more enlightened...they just know it's none of their business.....

it's none of their business until it is....because you CANNOT legislate/control morality...no different than gun control/regulation...

abortion is not a pre-crime so owning a gun is not a pre-crime

Box cheers for abortion and at the same time cheers for gun control/regulation....that's dangerous mind-think...as if the government
should be in the business of pre-crime/mental hygiene. why should they be? because the progressives progressively think
it's OK when it's up to them to allow the government to legislate pre-crime morality.

a possible outcome of a human aborted is not a crime
a possible outcome of an assault by gun is not a crime

The extreme left-wing nuts who are pushing the pro-abortion agenda are the same folks who are pushing for "animal rights,"   Obviously, they value the life of animals from different species more than they value human life.

More proof that the pro-abortion/pro-death crowd is NOT progressive and NOT enlightened.  They represent the darkest instincts instincts in humanity and try to shove it down our throats by force and/or by some irrational and downright stupid argument   (how stupid can one be insisting that a human fetus is not a human).
