Liberty is the value of individuals to have control over their own actions.

NYPD Freaks Out About Statue Of Liberty Security, Feds Have To Calm Cops Down

Poor, poor Lady Liberty: it's been taking her FOREVER to get back on her feet post-Hurricane Sandy, and now she's finding herself in the middle of a fierce battle between the NYPD and the National Park Service over security screenings.

The Park Service has decided to move the security screening area for visitors to the Statue from Battery Park to Ellis Island once the tourist attraction reopens on July 4th. Security sweeps have been conducted in Battery Park since 9/11, but the city's Parks Department has reportedly been asking the feds to move the tent it set up for the screenings out of the area.

The NYPD, however, isn't too happy about putting thousands of tourists on a ferry to Ellis Island before going through security. "The Park Service's decision to reopen the Statue of Liberty without screening in Manhattan was made against the NYPD's recommendation and leaves unresolved the vulnerability to attack on ferry passengers en route to both Liberty and Ellis Islands," Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said in a statement yesterday. Now, the Park Service says they'll work with the NYPD to come up with a screening plan that'll make everybody happy. "We share a mutual interest in protecting both the monument and the visitors," Park Service spokesman Jeffrey Olson and Browne said in a joint statement yesterday. Why can't we all just get along?

freedom IS having the balls to take a ferry over to a MONUMENT OF FREEDOM without some security that curtails freedom...

I'd say those who take the ferry over without the check are brave Americans....if they die seeking freedom then this is truly
America...

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS

Clearly the message of Liberty is lost on the paranoid law enforcement agencies fighting
over where to force people to be searched.

We need to be frisked before we leave the house. Hire 2 million unionized home-friskers immediately to come into our home at sun-up. It is for the safety of "the kids." Don't be against "the kids."

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
