TSA agents 'humiliated' wounded Marine with aggressive inspection: report

Security Administration inspectors forced a wounded Marine who lost both of his legs in an IED blast and who was in a wheelchair to remove his prosthetic legs at one point, and at another point to stand painfully on his legs while his wheelchair was examined, according to a complaint a congressman has registered with the TSA.

Rep. Duncan Hunter said in his letter Monday that the Marine, who is still on active duty and showed TSA agents his military identification, was still forced to undergo that scrutiny.

“A TSA office asked the Marine to stand and walk to an alternate area, despite the fact that he physically could not stand or walk on his own. With numerous TSA officers sitting and unwilling to assist, an officer then made him remove his legs, then put them back on, only to advance to a secondary screening location where he was asked again to stand, with extraordinary difficult, while his wheelchair was examined for explosives,” Mr. Hunter said.

He also said TSA officers initially directed the Marine to the wrong line, then made him move lines but made no effort to help him. The incident occurred at Phoenix’s Sky Harbor airport last week, as a group of Marines was returning to San Diego.

Mr. Hunter included two photos of the inspection in his letter that appear to show a TSA agent patting down the Marine’s arm and examining the prosthetic leg.

The congressman asked TSA to detail its procedures to inspecting wounded U.S. troops at airports, and to consider whether agents should show “situational awareness.”

If a  terrorist... say an American born Al Qaeda terrorist (like Anwar Awlaki) were to disguise himself as a wounded
Marine, knowing that wounded Marines were exempt from any airline inspection, he could easily walk on to any
US airliner with 40 or 50 pounds of explosives hidden in his equipment...
If I were that Marine, I wouldn't want some airliner downed because of me.

I wonder what the US Marine in this story had to say about this incident?

Please name the number of attacks thwarted by the TSA since it's origin in 2001.

(Hint: Any number above '0' would be incorrect)

50 billion dollars, 50 million man hours of searching for possible terrorists,
50 billion people detained and searched, and all for the protection of private
corporate airplanes.

The government could have bought the airlines cheaper.

Are the airlines part of the 47% named as the entitled?

Therefore you support the detainment and search of persons in any place in the country where a
terrorist could be hiding?

George Washington would shoot you and everyone you know for such a statement.

In the back, ..., then reload a few times and shoot you some more.

You are a true to life anti-freedom fighter..

American born Al Queda Terrorists are created by these searches.

But continue to deny it.

Just keep bankrupting us and trampling civil liberties.

"They" are more likely to try to blow up planes now so knives are okay... who is "they" and whose word are we taking for what "they" are up to? In allthis talk about bombing planes, it should be pointed out that nobody ever did that.
"Bad intelligence" was blamed for those lies about the YouTube video being spread by our government. What other lies are we accepting as truth because "intelligence" says so?

5 guys with shotguns could take down an airliner as it takes off or lands.

It ain't rocket science.

If a few geese can take down a plane, a few shotguns could easily do it.

The TSA is a farce.

It's only purpose is to control travel.

be careful or you might wind up giving Bush credit for something by accident

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Wow!

What an argument.

How many were hijacked from North Korea or China?

You want to justify totalitarianism as a safety issue?

Pan Am 103 took of from Heathrow, I believe.
L4L is incorrect, TSA does have another purpose, it employs the otherwise hard-core unemployed.
Getting back to Lockerbie, intelligence said that "they" were planning something, but didn't inform air travelers to let them assess the risk for themselves. We still don't know who "they" were. The guy who got let go for "humanitarian reasons", if by humanitarian reasons you mean "we had the wrong guy locked up", then that was the reason he got let out. If they know they had the wrong guy locked up, that means they know who really was behind it, but we won't be allowed to know because it is 'sensitive'. Did an American get on that plane with a bomb in his leg? Of course not, nobody boarded that plane with a bomb.
Did anybody read the 911 report? Do you feel informed now?
