In answer to bumble, maybe I am expecting my (and their) savings to pay for my children's future needs. Colonie proposed something like that, a one time tax, a while back, but I don't think they instituted it. The trouble with this kind of thing is it's kind of like when you give your college student child a credit card because they have unforeseen expenses at school, and then they run up a large balance theycan't pay with the money you give them, do you pay the balance for them this one time, or do you take away the credit card and make them use the money you were going to give them for something else they wanted to pay the bill? Remember when BS was accepting kudos for when he 'fixed' Schenectady by jacking up taxes nearly 25% to get a better bond rating? So how come Schenectady isn't fixed?
