Bloomberg Worried About Private Jet Owners Using New York City Homeless Shelters
9:46 AM, Mar 9, 2013 • By DANIEL HALPER

New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg expressed concern that private jet owners could clog up the city's homeless shelters.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg

“You can arrive in your private jet at Kennedy Airport, take a private limousine and go straight to the shelter system, walk in the door, and we’ve got to give you shelter,” Bloomberg said, speaking on the radio.

“That’s what the law is. I didn’t write the law,” Bloomberg added.

The New York Post claims he was referring to a law related to homeless shelters signed by Ed Koch. "He was referring to a decree signed by Mayor Ed Koch 30 years ago that gives free shelter to anyone who says they need it," reports the Post.

"Bloomberg’s comments came the week that an advocacy group for the homeless released a report saying the city’s homeless population surged in the past year."

Bloomberg is the 13th richest man in the world, Gothamist.com notes. "Forbes has its latest figures for the world's richest people, and our very own Mayor Bloomberg is number 13, with an estimated net worth of $27 billion." http://www.weeklystandard.com/.....shelters_706686.html

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Bloomberg is supposed to be one of the smarter ones in NYC. Millionaires with private jets always stay at the 5 star homeless shelters.

Bloomberg wants to be able to get some of the chronic loafers off his back, but since we've already made "the homeless" sacred cows, no questions asked, it becomes politically unpopular to suggest that we are giving too much 'help' to freeloaders who are perfectly capable of fending for themselves ifthey have to. He makes a stupid, extreme example that the law as it stands covers rich people too, so he can amend the law. Everybody hates rich people, right?
My personal opinion is that we need to sort those who are able to maintain themselves but choose not to from those who can't, so we can take care of those who can't. Why should the mentally ill wander the streets?
Bloomie is also trying to kindly suggest that some others try changing their behavior so people don't end up paying for their stupidity, but he has to try to hide is true intentions lest he offend the great freeloading constituency. Fat chance, idiot. The downstate politicians spread the problem around the state for years, now there is no more room at the inn. They are reaping what they've sown.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
